Safety uses of optical fiber communication systems

The paper is focused on problems of optical radiation, which occurs in systems and devices of optical fiber communications, during their usual exploitation, and in breakage situations. Mainly in aspects of open (possible to disconnect) fiber optic optical system and/or accidental affection of electromagnetic radiation (in visible and infrared spectrum) on human being. Considerations about safeness of using fiber optical systems and devices were examined on the basis of directions and obligatory standards or propositions of changing them as results of newest research.
Optimization of continuous elastic perfectly plastic beams

Abstract The optimal design of elastic plastic beams subjected to loads quasi-statically variable within a given domain is studied. A minimum volume formulation and a maximum load multiplier formulation are developed, both expressed on the grounds of a statical as well as of a kinematical approach. The search problems are formulated according to three different limiting criteria acting simultaneously. For each criterion a corresponding selected safety factor is imposed. The Euler–Lagrange equations related to the above described problems are deduced. A special iterative technique devoted to the solution of the above referenced problems is proposed. Some numerical examples conclude the paper.

L’absència generalitzada de documentació relativa a l’actuació processal diària del mostassaf, oficial de l’organització municipal valenciana, s’explica pel caràcter sumari de les seues decisions i la circumscripció a l’àmbit de l’oralitat, prescrita explícitament per la legislació foral. Tanmateix i de forma excepcional, d’un període breu, els anys 1571 a 1578, i en un lloc rural, Sueca, aquest oficial deixà constància escrita de la seua actuació, cosa que ens permet reconstruir l’estructura del procediment judicial seguit pel mostassaf i la tipologia de les causes dirimides, així com de les penes imposades.

The effects of organizational and individual factors on occupational accidents

This study examined the relationships between individual psychological, work environment and organizational variables and occupational accidents using structural equation modelling with latent variables. A series of nested explicative models of the relationships between these variables was derived. Data were collected from a wide range of industrial sectors in the Valencia region of Spain using structured interviews. In total, 525 valid questionnaires were completed and these formed the basis for the subsequent analyses. Job insecurity, recovery and well-being at work: Recovery experiences as moderators

In the present study, the moderating role of recovery experiences in the job insecurity— occupational well-being relationship was examined. Recovery experiences refer to psychological mechanisms (psychological detachment from work, relaxation, mastery and control during off-job time) facilitating recovery. Altogether 527 employees from a variety of different jobs participated in the questionnaire study. The moderated regression analyses revealed that in an insecure job situation, relaxation buffered against increased need for recovery from work, and psychological detachment impaired vigour at work.
