Shared genetic risk between eating disorder- and substance-use-related phenotypes: Evidence from genome-wide association studies

2020

AbstractEating disorders and substance use disorders frequently co-occur. Twin studies reveal shared genetic variance between liabilities to eating disorders and substance use, with the strongest associations between symptoms of bulimia nervosa (BN) and problem alcohol use (genetic correlation [rg], twin-based=0.23-0.53). We estimated the genetic correlation between eating disorder and substance use and disorder phenotypes using data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Four eating disorder phenotypes (anorexia nervosa [AN], AN with binge-eating, AN without binge-eating, and a BN factor score), and eight substance-use-related phenotypes (drinks per week, alcohol use disorder [AUD], …

PNeuro: A scalable energy-efficient programmable hardware accelerator for neural networks

2018

Proceedings of a meeting held 19-23 March 2018, Dresden, Germany; International audience; Artificial intelligence and especially Machine Learning recently gained a lot of interest from the industry. Indeed, new generation of neural networks built with a large number of successive computing layers enables a large amount of new applications and services implemented from smart sensors to data centers. These Deep Neural Networks (DNN) can interpret signals to recognize objects or situations to drive decision processes. However, their integration into embedded systems remains challenging due to their high computing needs. This paper presents PNeuro, a scalable energy-efficient hardware accelerat…

Fostering teenagers' assessment of information reliability: Effects of a classroom intervention focused on critical source dimensions

2018

International audience; Increased amounts of information available from the Internet have triggered new demands for students to evaluate information quality. Our study presents an instructional intervention aimed at fostering ninth grade students' critical evaluation of source reliability. The intervention was grounded into theories of multiple text comprehension and used an analytic framework that defines the core source dimensions of author position (competence), author motivation (intention), and media quality (pre-publication validation). Compared to controls, trained students 1) reduced the score assigned to links containing less reliable information in the three critical source dimens…

Privacy preserving via tree augmented naïve Bayesian classifier in multimedia database

2011

International audience; In this paper, we propose a novel technique for privacy preserving in multimedia databases. Our technique is based on a multimedia co-occurrence matrix and a tree augmented naive Bayesian classifier (TAN) to detect possible data associations making confidential multimedia objects at risk.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma as a complication of chronic graft-versus-host disease: a case report

2014

Objectives. Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease (cGVHD) is an immunoregulatory disorder which occurs after allogeneic hematopoietic-cell transplantation (HCT) and often shares features of autoimmunity and immunodeficiency. GVHD related oral manifestations include severe oral pain, xerostemia, ulcerative lesions, and mucositis. Furthermore,a major late suggested complication of HSCT is the dramatically increased risk of secondary malignancies including oral cancer and oral cGVHD-releted inflammation may be considered a potential risk factor. Case report. A 51-year-old male patient referred in 1994 to our surgery for cGVHD oral lesions secondary to HCT for acute myelogenous leukemia developed i…
