Ion-Pair Complexation with Dibenzo[21]Crown-7 and Dibenzo[24]Crown-8 bis-Urea Receptors

Synthesis and ion-pair complexation properties of novel ditopic bis-urea receptors based on dibenzo[21]crown-7 (R(1) ) and dibenzo[24]crown-8 (R(2) ) scaffolds have been studied in the solid state, solution, and gas phase. In a 4:1 CDCl3 /[D6 ]DMSO solution, both receptors clearly show positive heterotropic cooperativity toward halide anions when complexed with Rb(+) or Cs(+) , with the halide affinity increasing in order I(-) <Br(-) <Cl(-) . In solution, the rubidium complexes of both receptors have higher halide affinities compared to the caesium complexes. Titanocene–gold complexes containing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands inhibit growth of prostate, renal, and colon cancers in vitro

We report on the synthesis, characterization, and stability studies of new titanocene complexes containing a methyl group and a carboxylate ligand (mba = −OC(O)-p-C6H4-S−) bound to gold(I)−N-heterocyclic carbene fragments through the thiolate group: [(η5 -C5H5)2TiMe(μ-mba)Au(NHC)]. The cytotoxicities of the heterometallic compounds along with those of novel monometallic gold−N-heterocyclic carbene precursors [(NHC)Au(mbaH)] have been evaluated against renal, prostate, colon, and breast cancer cell lines. Triazole vs. triazolium carbene ligands in the site-selective cyclometallation of o-carboranes by M(iii) (M = Ir, Rh) complexes

Ir(iii) and Rh(iii)-mediated site-selective cage B-H and C-H bond activation in o-carboranylmethyl derivatives has been achieved. The selectivity of the reaction is related to the electron donating properties of the ligand. 1,2,3-Triazole-derivatives use the N2 position of the triazole ring to direct the selective o-carborane B-H bond activation, whereas the corresponding triazolylidene derivatives lead to the cage C-H bond activation with complete site-selectivity.

Electrochemical meso-functionalization of magnesium(II) porphine

International audience; Regioselective meso-functionalization of the totally unsubstituted magnesium(II) porphine was performed by controlled potential electrolysis with pyridine and triphenylphosphine as nucleophiles leading to the original pyridinium and phosphonium substituted derivatives, respectively. The crystallographic structure of the latter is described as the only meso-phosphonium porphyrin reported to date.

A metal-free and regioselective approach to (Z)-β-fluorovinyl sulfones and their chemoselective hydrogenation to β-fluoroalkyl sulfones

Abstract A highly regioselective, metal-free hydrofluorination reaction of alkynyl sulfones was developed using TBAF—one of the cheapest and most commonly available fluoride sources. In addition, the reactivity of the resulting β-fluorovinyl sulfones was studied, focusing on their selective hydrogenation reaction. Both β-fluorovinyl sulfones and their hydrogenation products β-fluoroalkyl sulfones may find applications in medicinal and agrochemical sciences.

Unveiling the high reactivity of cyclohexynes in [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions through the molecular electron density theory

[3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reactions of cyclohexyne, a cyclic strained acetylene, with methyl azide and methoxycarbonyl diazomethane have been studied within the Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) at the MPWB1K/6-311G(d) computational level. These 32CA reactions, which take place through a one-step mechanism involving highly asynchronous transition state structures, proceed with relatively low activation enthalpies of 6.0 and 4.3 kcal mol-1, respectively, both reactions being strongly exothermic. Amplification of a thermodynamically unfavoured macrocyclic product through the directed shift of the equilibrium between dynamic covalent chemistry library members is difficult to achieve. We show for the first time that during condensation of formaldehyde and cis-N,N'-cyclohexa-1,2-diylurea formation of inverted-cis-cyclohexanohemicucurbit[6]uril (i-cis-cycHC[6]) can be induced at the expense of thermodynamically favoured cis-cyclohexanohemicucurbit[6]uril (cis-cycHC[6]). The combination of the properly designed novel organic linker, 3,6-N-ditriazoyil-2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone (trz2An), with CoII ions results in a 3D ultramicroporous MOF with high CO2 uptake capacity and separation efficiency, with particular attention to CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 gas mixtures. This material consists of 1D chains of octahedrally coordinated CoII ions linked through the anilato ligands in the equatorial positions and to the triazole substituents from two neighbouring chains in the two axial positions. Efficient and simple synthesis of novel 1,2,3-triazolyl-linked benzimidazolone, molecular docking and evaluation of their antimicrobial activity

In this study, a novel series of 1,2,3-triazolyl-benzimidazolone derivatives have been synthesized by click reaction of azides with benzimidazolones 2a–b. The latter compounds were prepared with excellent yields (85–97%), the structures of products were determined by spectral analysis. Then, the X-rays crystallographic analysis of compound 7a revealed the self-assembling properties. The new heterocycles were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and against fungi strains. Structural and metallo selectivity in the assembly of [2 × 2] grid-type metallosupramolecular species: Mechanisms and kinetic control

An unsymmetrical bis(tridentate) ligand LH in which one binding site can be readily deprotonated forms a kinetically inert [Co(III)L(2)](+) complex which can be used as a "corner" species for the "Coupe du Roi" assembly of trans,trans-[Co(2)M(2)L(4)](6+) metallogrids (M = Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)). In the mixed Co(III)/Co(II) species, the oxidation states appear to be localised.
