The Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) is a novel solid state photon counting detector consisting of a parallel array of avalanche photodiodes biased beyond their breakdown voltage. It has known a fast development in the last few years as a possible alternative to vacuum photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) and conventional avalanche photodiodes (APDs). Compton Cameras have been proposed as an alternative to SPECT imaging with Gamma Camera, mainly due to factors such as the electronic collimation, which allows a bigger field of view and provides further information from the acquired events if compared to devices with mechanical collimation. By contrast, this involves a higher amount of data to be processed. In medical devices this leads to waiting times that are generally higher than desirable by the health-care professionals. In this work we have assessed the reconstruction of Compton images by making use of iterative and non-iterative techniques, and also evaluated its performances as a SPECT imaging technique.

D2-dopamine receptors can be visualized in the human brain in vivo by Single Photon Emission Tomography (SPECT) and the radiolabeled benzamide [123I]IBZM. The present paper reviews the current status of this type of functional brain imaging with respect to basic methodological aspects, data analysis and quantification. The results from published clinical studies in different psychiatric patient populations and normal controls with [123I]IBZM are reviewed. Somatostatin-receptor scintigraphy in Graves' disease: reproducibility and variance of orbital activity.

Somatostatin-receptor (SSTR) scintigraphy using the single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) technique allows the assessment of orbital inflammation in patients with Graves' disease. Previous studies showed differences in orbital octreotide uptake already 4 hr after injection. Photon events with missing energy at root s=183 to 189 GeV

The production of single photons has been studied in the reaction e+e- -> gamma + invisible particles at centre-of-mass energies of 183 GeV and 189 GeV. A previously published analysis of events with multi-photon final states accompanied by missing energy has been updated with 189 GeV data. The data were collected with the DELPHI detector and correspond to integrated luminosities of about 51 pb^{-1} and 158 pb^{-1} at the two energies. The number of light neutrino families is measured to be 2.84 +/- 0.15(stat) +/- 0.14(syst). 408 Positional cerebral ischemia (PCI) is an extremely rare condition in which dramatic central nervous system deficits are triggered by standing in patients with severe stenosis or occlusion of the major brain-supplying blood vessels [1] . Because PCI is generally associated with orthostatic hypotension [2, 3] , a hemodynamic mechanism has been proposed [4] . Preliminary assessment of the imaging capability of the YAP–(S)PET small animal scanner in neuroscience

The new and fully engineered version of the YAP–(S)PET small animal scanner has been tested at the University of Mainz for preliminary assessment of its imaging capability for studies related to neuropharmacology and psychiatry. The main feature of the scanner is the capability to combine PET and SPECT techniques. It allows the development of new and interesting protocols for the investigation of many biological phenomena, more effectively than with PET or SPECT modalities alone. We analyze the production of a controlled Fock state in the cavity by a traveling atom simultaneously coupled by a laser field, and the leakage of the corresponding photons from the cavity.
