Influence of aquatic training on the motor performance of patients with haemophilic arthropathy

2009

Thirteen patients with haemophilia A took part in this study voluntarily. They underwent an aquatic training programme over a 9-week period (27 sessions; three sessions per week; 1 h per session). Their motor performance was assessed by the following cardio-respiratory and mechanical variables before and after the training programme: oxygen uptake (VO(2), mL min(-1)), relative oxygen uptake (rel VO(2), mL min(-1).kg(-1)), carbon dioxide (CO(2), mL min(-1)), respiratory quotient (R), heart rate (bpm) and the distance covered in 12 min (the Cooper test, m). Nine patients successfully completed the intervention and measurement protocols without bleeding or other adverse events. After the propo…

A few studies have systematically summarized the effect of interventions to improve reproductive health and care in women with insufficient HL. The main objective of the study was to investigate health care promotion interventions and examine their effectiveness on women with inadequate HL through a systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCT). Methods: RCTs and quasi-experimental studies that assessed HL interventions to improve reproductive health of women with low HL were included. The study protocol was registered with PROSP…

La formazione del caregiver: un’indagine esplorativa sui bisogni e le competenze di chi si prende cura

2021

In Italy, most people with dementia are looked after by an informal caregiver and, due to the care burden and the lack of systematic-institutional support, they risk deleterious effects on psycho-physical well-being and on relational functionality with the assisted. Considering the ontological dimension of care, it is necessary to deepen the pedagogical implications deriving from the needs of the caregiver of people with Alzheimer Disease. The survey carried out based on the administration of two tools: the semi-structured interview addressed to the associations that in the Sicilian territory deal with family support and the check-list for conducting focus groups with cargivers, allowed the…

Identifying technical, physiological, tactical and psychological characteristics that contribute to career progression in soccer

2016

This study sought to examine which technical, physiological, tactical and psychological characteristics at age 15 years contribute to successful soccer performance at age 19 years. Participants were male soccer players ( n = 114; mean age 15.4 ± 0.3 years), divided into elite and sub-elite groups based on their performance level at age 19 years. Technical, physiological, tactical and psychological characteristics were recorded when players were 15-year olds. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that performance level at age 19 was clearly associated with technical skills of passing and centering as well as agility and motivation levels recorded at age 15 years. These results extend o…

The Evaluation of Social and Professional Life Competences of University Students Through Service-Learning

2021

The view previously held in the university regarding teaching-learning processes has changed significantly over the past few years. Undoubtedly, in the case of Europe, this change of pedagogical model has gone hand in hand with the creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Some of the pivotal areas of EHEA are the independent work of the individual student, the social dimension of learning, and the acquiring of skills, which are not reduced to the mere technical and/or subject matter knowledge. Generic competences and the so-called “soft skills” have also become important, given their significant contribution to the students’ academic, personal, social, and professional develop…

Commenting on Written Arguments as a Part of Argumentation Skills — comparison between students engaged in traditional vs on‐line study

1992

ABSTRACT The use of computer‐mediated communication (CMC) has increased in the area of education. This article reports a study whose aim was to improve the argumentation and scientific thinking skills of university students through argumentative on‐line studying. The research problems dealt on the one hand with learning outcomes in terms of subject content and on the other hand with argumentation skills. The results were compared between on‐line students and students who studied in a traditional way. The results indicated that the traditional group got better learning outcomes than the on‐line students who, by contrast, succeeded better in the tasks of argumentation skills. The findings sug…
