Empresas y Derechos Humanos.
European citizenship : opportunities and abuses in private international family law
2021
2017
The relations between state and arbitral justice, which were previously conflictual, have now clearly calmed down. Indeed, judges today are maintaining a constructive dialogue with arbitrators, which has led to both the creation and the application of transnational law. This communication thus reviews the main phases of this normative construction, whose completion has led to the strengthening of arbitration in these functions of international commercial justice.
Transnational athletic career and cultural transition
2020
Transnational movement of sports participants is an important dimension of the internationalization and globalization processes in sports industry and also has become a crucial element of athlete professional development in the 21st century. Since Bale and Maguire’s (1994) pioneering work on athletic talent migration, sports sociology and human geography scholars have made strides in mapping international movement flows of skilled sports migrants. Furthermore, with a recent shift in sports labour migration studies from macro- to microsociological perspectives, there has been an increased interest in the agency and multidimensionality of migrant professionals’ life and work experiences acros…
Didaktiskās spēles gramatiski pareizas runas attīstībai vecākā pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem ar valodas sistēmas nepietiekamu attīstību
2022
“If you compress the spring, it will snap back hard”: The Ukrainian crisis and the balance of threat theory
2014
The narrative of an aggressive and neo-imperialist Russia that has dominated analyses of the 2014 Ukrainian crisis lacks theoretical rigour. We argue that a sustainable transformation of the Ukrainian crisis requires an accurate analysis of the context of the conflict, which should include an understanding of Moscow’s perception of the threats to its interests. This policy brief develops a theoretical understanding of the Ukrainian crisis through the lens of Stephen M. Walt’s balance of threat theory. We conclude that a realist analysis will help to explain Russian actions.
The Work of Cultural Transition: An Emerging Model
2016
In today’s uncertain, fluid job market, transnational mobility has intensified. Though the concept of cultural transition is increasingly used in sport and career research, insight into the processes of how individuals produce their own development through work and relationships in shifting cultural patterns of meaning remains limited. The transnational industry of sports, in which athletes’ psychological adjustment to cultural transitions has implications for both performance and meaningful life, serves as a backdrop for this article. This study applied the life story method to interviews with 15 professional and semi-professional athletes, focusing particularly on the cultural transition …
Walk the Line. The Surgical Highways to the Craniovertebral Junction in Endoscopic Approaches: A Historical Perspective
2018
Background We compiled a comprehensive literature review on the anatomic and clinical results of endoscopic approaches to the craniocervical junction (CVJ) to better contribute to identify the best strategy. Methods An updated literature review was performed in the PubMed, OVID, and Google Scholar medical databases, using the terms “Craniovertebral junction,” “Transoral approach,” “Transnasal approach,” “Transcervical approach,” “Endoscopic endonasal approach,” “Endoscopic transoral approach,” “Endoscopic transcervical approach.” Clinical series, anatomic studies, and comparative studies were reviewed. Results Pure endonasal and cervical endoscopic approaches still have some disadvantages, …
Snapshot multi-spectral-line imaging for applications in dermatology and forensics
2019
Performance of multi-spectral imaging critically depends on image acquisition time and working spectral bandwidths. Ultimate performance can be achieved if a set of monochromatic (single-wavelength) spectral images is obtained by a single snapshot - a technique provisionally called “snapshot multi-spectral-line imaging” or SMSLI. The SMSLI principle and the developed prototype devices for 3, 4 and 5 spectral line snapshot imaging are described. Two potential practical applications of SMSLI are discussed – for fast mapping of the main in-vivo skin chromophores and for detection of counterfeit banknotes and documents.
Laser illumination designs for snapshot multi-spectral-line imaging
2019
For multi-spectral imaging, both acquisition time of the spectral image set and the spectral bandwidth of each image have to be minimized. Ultimate performance can be achieved if the set of monochromatic (single-wavelength) spectral images is obtained with a single snapshot — a technique provisionally called "snapshot multi-spectral-line imaging" or SMSLI. Using contemporary RGB colour cameras, up to three spectral line images can be extracted from a snapshot image data cube at specific illumination that comprises only three spectral lines, each of them positioned within one of the detection bands (R, G or B) [1]. Techniques able to provide more spectral line images are under development, a…
