Direct excitation of the “dark”b3Πstate predicted by deperturbation analysis of theA1Σ+−b3Πcomplex in KCs

2010

The diode-laser-induced fluorescence spectra $b {}^{3}{\ensuremath{\Pi}}_{\ensuremath{\Omega}=0}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{X}^{ 1}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{+}$ originated from the rovibronic levels of the ``dark'' triplet $b {}^{3}{\ensuremath{\Pi}}_{\ensuremath{\Omega}=0}^{+}$ state of KCs dimers were recorded with a Fourier transform spectrometer with a resolution of 0.03 cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. Term values of 30 rovibronic levels $({v}_{b0}^{*}\ensuremath{\in}[14,18];{J}^{\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\in}[47,134])$ below the minimum of perturbing $A {}^{1}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{+}$ state were determined with 0.003--0.01 cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ uncertainty. The optimal excitation and dete…

Analysis of broadband x-ray spectra of highly charged krypton from a microcalorimeter detector of an electron-beam ion trap

2001

Spectra of highly charged Kr ions, produced in an electron-beam ion trap (EBIT), have been recorded in a broad x-ray energy band (0.3 keV to 4 keV) with a microcalorimeter detector. Most of the spectral lines have been identified as transitions of B- to Al-like Kr. The transition energies have been determined with 0.2% uncertainty. A semi-empirical EBIT plasma model has been created to calculate a synthetic spectrum of highly charged Kr and to determine a charge state distribution of Kr ions inside the EBIT.

Zone plates with cells apodized by Legendre profiles

1990

By apodizing the cells of a zone plate and changing the opening ratio, it is possible to shape the relative power spectrum of its foci. We describe a novel procedure that leads to an analytical formula for shaping the focus power spectrum by using apodizers expressible as the Legendre series; these act on cells of arbitrary opening ratio. Our general result is used to design zone plates that have missing foci and to discuss a synthesis procedure using apodizers with various opening ratios. Our applications can also be used for shaping the power spectrum of 1-D gratings.

Spectral anomalies in focused waves of different Fresnel numbers

2004

Light propagation induces remarkable changes in the spectrum of focused diffracted beams. We show that spectral changes take place in the vicinity of phase singularities in the focal region of spatially coherent, polychromatic spherical waves of different Fresnel numbers. Instead of the Debye formulation, we use the Kirchhoff integral to evaluate the focal field accurately. We find that as a result of a decrease in the Fresnel number, some cylindrical spectral switches are geometrically transformed into conical spectral switches.

Spectral anomalies in supercontinuum focused waves

2006

The diffraction-induced spectral anomalies in the focal plane of an apertured spherical wave with supercontinuum flat-top power spectrum are investigated. Coherent broadband radiation (also incoherent white light) demonstrates a strong blue shift in the vicinity of the optical axis, and discrete spectral gaps with overall red shift arise out of this central region. Unlike narrow-band light, the spectral switch effect fades away with ultra-broad spectra.

Achromatic diffraction of femtosecond light pulses

2003

Diffraction of electromagnetic waves in free space is a physical phenomenon that explicitly depends on the wavelength of light radiation. As an ultrashort-pulsed waveform consists of many frequency components that are coherently superposed, diffraction of a femtosecond pulse passing through an aperture radically differs from that under continuous wave (CW) monochromatic illumination. Note that the spectral width of a 5 fs pulsed beam is approximately 400 nm, which roughly corresponds to the entire visible spectrum bandwidth. The spectral distribution of the source results in the chromatic distortion, both lateral and axial, of the optical field diffracted by the aperture. This detrimental e…

A coupled-map model for the magnetotail current sheet

1999

A magnetic field model of the magnetotail current sheet in the form of a coupled-map lattice (CML) is presented. It is a continuously driven and based on the MHD diffusion equation. Solar wind vBs data (solar wind speed multiplied by the southward component of IMF) are used for driving the model, and it is shown to exhibit perturbations (avalanches) with power-law scalings in their distributions of duration and size. Such distributions may indicate self-organized critical (SOC) behavior. Furthermore, it is shown that the power spectra of the model outputs are of bicolor power-law form with different slopes for high and low frequencies. The model parameters determine the frequency of the bre…

Transition from Prolate to Oblate to Triaxial Shapes in158Yb

1983

The decay of the entry states in ISIYb populated in the reactions of 149 MeV ,oNe with ,44Nd and lUNd has been investigated with a 4" multidetector system gated by a Ge counter. The average excitation energy, the ,.-ray spectra and the angular distribu tions as a function of multiplicity show several changes in the ,.-ray decay. These changes suggest a transition from prolate to particle aligned oblate connguration at low spin. At 1- 38-48 collective transitions with dipole and quad rupole component possibly built on high K single particle states are observed. Furthennore, above 1- 48 the dipole component disappears suggesting a further change toward more triaxial shape.

Fourier-transform spectroscopy and relativistic electronic structure calculation on the c3Σ+ state of KCs

2021

Abstract The Ti:Saphire laser operated within 13800 - 11800 cm − 1 range was used to excite the c 3 Σ + state of KCs molecule directly from the ground X 1 Σ + state. The laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra of the c 3 Σ + → a 3 Σ + transition were recorded with Fourier-transform spectrometer within 8000 to 10000 cm − 1 range. Overall 673 rovibronic term values belonging to both e / f -components of the c 3 Σ + ( Ω = 1 ± ) state of 39 KCs, covering vibrational levels from v = 0 to about 45, and rotational levels J ∈ [ 11 , 149 ] were determined with the accuracy of about 0.01 cm − 1 ; among them 7 values for 41 KCs. The experimental term values with v ∈ [ 0 , 22 ] were involved in a dire…
