The study of the ceramics from the site of the Batterie Basse in the region of Manche, shows again that the presence of bioclasts in the clays of protohistoric ceramics is a very common phenomenon in Normandy unlike in Brittany, where in the current state of knowledge only one individual from the Iron Age has been described. These bioclasts, mostly fragments of bivalves, are non-plastic elements naturally present in the clays, either in the form of fossils, either in the form of contemporary shells, or are incorporated by the craftsmans after being pounded to modify the technical characteristics of the clays. Today’s appearance of the church of Maria Santissima la Croce in Regalbuto is the result of interventions carried out during the last 300 years. The 19th century’s plaster decorations of the interiors hide the original structure of the 16th-century church. One of the “antiquities remainings” survived on the red carved stone arch upon the main apse. The study reveals that the model of the façade, completed in 1774, is the arch of Triumph for Porta dei Greci in Palermo, designed in 1735 by Nicolò Palma and known today thanks to an engraving by Antonino Bova. Itis difficult to define all the meanings and connotations of silence depicted in literary works. In the 19th century, where the Realism and the Naturalism paid much attention to the study of both physical and mental illnesses, silence was considered as one of the distinctive signs of madness. The paper analyzes four examples of this phenomenon in selected Zola s and Maupassant s texts (novels and short stories) whose characters, all mad or maniac, embody various aspects of the silence regarded as a pathological condition of a human being.

The determination of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) with single-particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry can be severely interfered with coexisting dissolved silver causing high background signals, which can lead to inaccurate quantification of NP size and particle concentration. Reading skills are more and more required to succeed professional examination. French crane drivers are concerned with this problem. In order to help them, we have conducted a study with three main steps. First, we carried out a cognitive work analysis. Second, we test several analogical modalities of written presentations focusing on the construction of a specific simulator. Finally, two experiments are presented showing a significative effect of this simulator on the comprehension of cranes technical documentation.
