The two Sn(IV) complexes synthesized using calix[4]arene-1,3-di-acid derivative were characterized by analytical, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR, matrix assisted laser desorption ionization mass, and 119Sn Mossbauer techniques and found that the complexes are tetranuclear possessing structurally two different types of tin centers. These complexes were evaluated for their protective value against blood and tissue oxidative stress in lead exposed male albino rats of Wistar strain. The results suggest that the two tin complexes significantly protect changes in lead induced biochemical variables indicative of heme synthesis pathway and exhibit only moderate effect on tissue oxidative stress. Variable-temperature X-ray crystal structure determinations (80–330 K) on compounds {Fe[tren(6-Mepy)3]}(ClO4)2(1-Fe) {tren(6-Mepy)3is tris[3-aza-4-(6-methyl-2-pyridyl)but-3-enyl]amine} and {Zn[tren(6-Mepy)3]}(ClO4)2(1-Zn) {tren(6-Mepy)3is tris[3-aza-4-(6-methyl-2-pyridyl)but-3-enyl]amine} were carried out together with a detailed analysis of the unit-cell volume and parameters in the spin transition region for (1-Fe). Both compounds crystallize in the monoclinic system and retained the space groupP21/cat all measured temperatures. Abstract A number of organotin(IV) complexes with pyridine mono- and dicarboxylic acids (containing ligating –COOH group(s) and aromatic {N} atoms) were prepared in the solid state. The bonding sites of the ligands were determined by means of FT-IR spectroscopic measurements. It was found that in most cases the –COO− groups form bridges between two central {Sn} atoms, thereby leading to polymeric (oligomeric) complexes. On this basis, the experimental 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopic data were treated with partial quadrupole splitting approximations. Mossbauer spectroscopy was used to study corroded iron after treatment with phosphoric acid or commercial rust transformers. It was found that treatment produced normal iron phosphates from metallic iron, hematite and FeO, and acid ferric phosphate FeH 3 (POI4I)I2I. 2.5H 2 O from alphaand gamma Fe 2 O 3 and alpha, beta, and gammaFeOOH. When these last are present, phosph oric acid treatment does not produce a protective, inhibiting layer. See also AATA 19-702. -- AATA

Langmuir-Blodgett mono- and multilayers of ferric stearate have been formed on oxidized silicon wafers. Thermodesorption of these layers was investigated by conversion electron Mossbauer and photoelectron spectroscopy and some complementary methods. Heating of samples in air up to 523 K leads to a desorption of the fatty acid chains, while the ferric ions are left on the substrate surface. These ions do not cluster laterally like it was found for Cd ions. They form a rather homogeneous, closed oxidic layer. Abstract A new series of hybrid organometallic-inorganic layered magnets with formula [Z III Cp * 2 ] [M II Ru III (ox) 3 ] ( Z III =Co and Fe; M II =Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, and Zn; ox=oxalate: Cp * =pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) has been prepared. All of these compounds are isostructural to the previously reported [ Z III Cp * 2 ] [ M II M III (ox) 3 ] ( M III =Cr, Fe) series and crystallize in the monoclinic space group C 2/ m , as found by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. They are novel examples of magnetic materials formed by bimetallic oxalate-based extended layers separated by layers of organometallic cations.
