MARKETING PARADIGM: TRANSITION FROM MC TO IMC
2012
A major change is occurring in marketing in general and also marketing communication (MC) due to the digital revolution and increased sophistication of consumers. In the paper the authors state that because of the prevalence of this marketing trend the systematization aspects of marketing communication integration and new marketing communication methods/approaches in the theoretical level declare about their urgency for better interpretation of marketing communication structure in marketing practice. In the authors’ opinion it is important to respond to this paradigm shift with enhanced integration and correct use of MC in order to maximize marketing efficiency. Integrated marketing communi…
Full-scale validation of bio-recycled asphalt mixtures for road pavements
2019
Abstract Recycling of asphalt has become a well-established practice in many countries, however the road pavement industry remains a bulk consumer of extracted raw materials. Novel solutions that find root in circular economy concepts and life-cycle approaches are needed in order to enable optimisation of infrastructure resource efficiency, starting from the design stage and spanning the whole value chain in the construction sector. Itis within this framework that the present study presents a full-scale validation of asphalt mixtures specifically designed to ensure durability of flexible road pavements and at the same time enabling the reuse of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) through the i…
CORPORATE VENTURE CAPITAL SYNDICATION STRATEGIES: A DYNAMIC NETWORK PERSPECTIVE
2018
Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) syndication is embraced by over 80% of corporates which co-investing the same startups with other corporates create a CVC syndication network. In this paper, we aim at exploring the evolutionary dynamics of the CVC syndication network. Specifically, we address this topic adopting two different perspectives. First, we investigate the architectural evolution of the CVC syndication network examining five dimensions that characterize the evolution of the network structure (i.e. degree distribution, connectivity, clustering, density and degree assortativity). In addition, we study how three network strategies (i.e. prominence, entrepreneurial and relational) evolv…
Campsite choice and the camping tourism experience: Investigating decisive campsite attributes using relevance-determinance analysis
2017
Abstract Camping tourism represents a growing part of the overall tourism industry. Despite this fact, this form of tourism has so far been rather neglected by tourism and hospitality research. Using a case study of a major campsite operator in the coastal part of Croatia, this study thus aims to contribute to the understanding of this specific tourist segment. In particular, a relevance-determinance analysis is conducted to reveal most decisive attributes for campsite choice, on the one hand, and for the actual campsite experience, on the other hand. Overall, the results provide valuable insight to practitioners, especially for the purposes of campsite marketing and experience management.
A Simulation Analysis of the Microstructure of an Order Driven Financial Market with Multiple Securities and Portfolio Choices
2005
In this paper we propose an artificial market where multiple risky assets are exchanged. Agents are constrained by the availability of resources and trade to adjust their portfolio according to an exogenously given target portfolio. We model the trading mechanism as a continuous auction order-driven market. Agents are heterogeneous in terms of desired target portfolio allocations, but they are homogeneous in terms of trading strategies. We investigate the role played by the trading mechanism in affecting the dynamics of prices, trading volume and volatility. We show that the institutional setting of a double auction market is sufficient to generate a non-normal distribution of price changes…
On interactive multiobjective optimization with NIMBUS® in chemical process design
2005
We study multiobjective optimization problems arising from chemical process simulation. The interactive multiobjective optimization method NIMBUS®, developed at the University of Jyvaskyla, is combined with the BALAS® process simulator, developed at the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, in order to provide a new interactive tool for designing chemical processes. Continuous interaction between the method and the designer provides a new efficient approach to explore Pareto optimal solutions and helps the designer to learn about the behaviour of the process. As an example of how the new tool can be used, we report the results of applying it in a heat recovery system design problem rela…
Collateral Sensitivity in Drug-Resistant Tumor Cells
2013
Collateral sensitivity is a term for the hypersensitivity of otherwise drug-resistant cells. The selective killing of tumor cells by drugs exerting collateral sensitivity might be used as a novel treatment strategy. In this chapter, we give an overview on drug resistance phenotypes with known collateral sensitivities; furthermore, their molecular and cellular mechanisms were discussed to explain mediation of these hypersensitivities.
Exergoeconomic analysis as support in decision-making for the design and operation of multiple chiller systems in air conditioning applications
2020
Abstract Multiple-chillers systems represent viable solutions for medium/large-scale air conditioning applications characterized by variable cooling demand. The energy efficiency of such systems is influenced by the number of chillers, the combination of cooling capacities, and the load-sharing among the units. Large efforts have been devoted to developing efficient operation strategies for these systems, but rules of thumb are usually adopted for selecting cooling capacities thus leaving room for energy and economic savings. In this paper, exergoeconomic analysis is proposed as a promising method to identify near-optimal design and operation strategies, due to the capability of exergoecono…
Alteration of a Cry1A Shared Binding Site in a Cry1Ab-Selected Colony of Ostrinia furnacalis
2022
The Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée, 1854), is a highly damaging pest in Asia and the Pacific islands, and larvae feed mainly from corn crops. To determine the suitability of Bt-corn technology for the future control of this pest, understanding the potential to develop resistance to Cry1Ab and the basis of cross-resistance to other Cry1 proteins is of great interest. Here, we have explored the binding of Cry1A proteins to brush border membrane vesicles from two O. furnacalis colonies, one susceptible (ACB-BtS) and one laboratory-selected with Cry1Ab (ACB-AbR). The insects developed resistance to Cry1Ab and showed cross-resistance to Cry1Aa, Cry1Ac, and Cry1F. Binding assays wi…
