Annäherung an die deutsche Frühromantik als Seelentherapie in der Biographie und im Frühwerk der Ricarda Huch

The first recognised professional writer of the German-speaking area, Doctor of History, critical observer of her times and a literature historian Ricarda Hutch was interested in the ideals of (early) German Romanticism throughout her life. This paper presents Huch’s interest in Romanticism in three stages. First, Huch’s subjective rapprochement with Romanticism will be presented. The second theme discussed in the article are some aspects of her literary-intellectual work on German Romanticism. Thirdly, the story of Huch, which was created under the influence of romantic ideals, will be discussed.

The incidence of irony in the genre of lyric poetry has caused some special effects, mainly after modernity turned this disposition of thought into an irreplaceable element when, thanks to the contribution of the Romantic poet Friedrich Schlegel, complicities between poets and readers were stipulated. The present article tries to evaluate the validity of these presuppositions by studying the use of ironic procedures in the poetic texts of a number of authors of great importance now. Resum: L’article es basa en el convenciment que la comprensió usual de la ironia no pot ser aplicada a les obres de J. V. Foix, les quals més aviat han de ser enteses en el context de la ironia romàntica tal com va ser concebuda per Friedrich Schlegel i més tard documentada en la investigació d’Ingrid Strohschneider-Kohrs. Es descriu el terme «reflexió» com l’autonegació de l’absolut per a després analitzar alguns poemes en prosa del poeta, en què tal classe d’ironia pot ser identificada. En els escrits de Foix les freqüents metareflexions sobre poesia o pintura fan aparèixer els textos o els quadres com a il·legibles o dotats d’un gran poder subversiu. In 1899 Ricarda Huch (1864–1947) published the first part of the treatise on German Romanticism entitled Blütezeit der Romantik (The Flowering of Romanticism). The results of further studies on Romanticism were presented in the second volume from 1902 entitled Ausbreitung und Verfall der Romantik (Popularization and fall of Romanticism). The aim of these investigations is to present, on the basis of the first volume of the study of Ricarda Huch, characters, motives of actions and features of the works of artists included in early Romanticism. Uno strano destino ha voluto che l’ultima frase scritta da Friedrich Schlegel la sera prima della morte, l’11 gennaio 1829, fosse una sorta di epitome di tutta la sua esistenza e di tutta la sua filosofia: «Das ganz vollendete und vollkommne Verstehen selbst aber [...]»1 che si potrebbe tradurre: «La compiuta e perfetta comprensione in quanto tale tuttavia [...]». Poco importa se l’emblema che chiude l’opera ci ricorda che questa “perfetta e compiuta” conoscenza è affidata, per l’ormai cattolico Schlegel, a Dio, cui l’anima si rivolge dopo aver spezzato le catene della mondanità. International audience; Friedrich Schlegel (1772-1829), représentant majeur - avec Novalis - du "Romantisme d'Iéna", a consacré de nombreux écrits à l'esthétique romantique. Il a présenté son roman Lucinde (1799) comme le premier "roman romantique", tout en se référant, pour définir ce nouveau genre, à la grande histoire du roman européen, et en particulier à la tradition espagnole du roman picaresque.
