On the History of Differentiable Manifolds

International audience; We discuss central aspects of history of the concept of an affine dif-ferentiable manifold, as a proposal confirming the need for using some quantitative methods (drawn from elementary Model Theory) in Mathematical Historiography. In particular, we prove that this geometric structure is a syntactic rigid designator in the sense of Kripke-Putnam.

The collected data consist of words (200 forms), which were qualified as an interjecion in the National Corpus of Polish and in the Uniwersalny słownik języka polskiego. The first part provides a short introduction to the subject matter related to interjections and includes a short summary of the views and opinions concerning their semantic structure. The first counting of souls in Vidzeme took place in 1782 and coincided with the 4 th analogous census of the provinces of Russia.
