Sensing properties of ZnO nanostructured layers

2017

Nanostructured ZnO layers have been deposited onto SiO 2 /Si substrates by spray pyrolysis, with previously patterned interdigitated gold electrodes. We have then measured the capacitive and resistive response against ambient parameters such as relative humidity and illumination.

Rotating magnetic fields as a means to control the hydrodynamics and heat transfer in single crystal growth processes

1999

The paper discusses a possibility to use different types of rotating magnetic fields (RMF) and combinations of these to control the hydrodynamics and heat/mass transfer in the processes of bulk semiconductor single crystal growth. Some factors contributing to the efficiency of RMF and their influence on different technologies are analyzed. Their specific practical application is illustrated by some examples.

Full-genome sequencing of a Hungarian canine G3P[3] Rotavirus A strain reveals high genetic relatedness with a historic Italian human strain

2015

A canine Rotavirus A strain was identified in the fecal specimen of a young dog during 2012 in Hungary. The strain RVA/Dog-wt/HUN/135/2012/G3P[3] shared complete genotype constellation (G3-P[3]-I3-R3-C3-M3-A15-N2-T3-E3-H6) and high genome sequence similarity (nt, 98.8 %) with a historic human strain, RVA/Human-tc/ITA/PA260-97/1997/G3P[3]. This study provides evidence for the canine origin of the unusual NSP1 genotype, A15, and reinforces the hypothesis of direct interspecies transmission of canine rotaviruses to humans.

Correlation between the Ionicity Character and the Charge Density in Semiconductors

1994

Using the electronic charge densities obtained by the empirical pseudopotential method for tetrahedrally bonded semiconductors, an ionicity scale is established that is in good agreement with the Phillips ionicity scale.

In vitro perception of low-contrast features in digital, film, and digitized dental radiographs: A receiver operating characteristic analysis

2005

Objective To compare experimentally the image quality of charged-coupled device (CCD)-based digital, flatbed scanner digitized, and dental film radiographs. Study design High-contrast standardized radiographs of an aluminum step wedge containing boreholes were obtained on dental radiographic film (F) and a CCD receptor (D). Digitization (S) was done with a flatbed scanner. Each radiograph was separated into 23 single images, 18 of which showed a dark spot. Thirty observers indicated their confidence on the visibility of the spots for a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Results Mean Az values (area beneath the ROC curves) differed significantly (P < .05), being highest for D …

Recent trends in the development of CdTe and CdZnTe semiconductor detectors for astrophysical applications

2010

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) and cadmium zinc telluride (CdZnTe) offer great promise as x-ray and gamma ray detectors. Due to the high detection efficiency, the good room temperature performance and the recent improvements on crystal growth technology, CdTe and CdZnTe detectors have obtained an increasing interest in the field of hard x-ray and gamma ray astronomy. In this paper, we report on the R&D activities on CdTe and CdZnTe detectors for high energy space instrumentation. Our group has been involved in the design of new multilayer hard x and soft gamma ray Laue lens telescopes and, in particular on the development of focal plane detectors based on CdTe and CdZnTe. Here we present the acti…

Resonant laser spectroscopy of localized excitons in monolayer WSe_2

2016

Coherent quantum control and resonance fluorescence of few-level quantum systems is integral for quantum technologies. Here we perform resonance and near-resonance excitation of three-dimensionally confined excitons in monolayer WSe2 to reveal near-ideal single-photon fluorescence with count rates up to 3 MHz. Using high-resolution photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy of the localized excitons, we uncover a weakly fluorescent exciton state ∼5  meV blue shifted from the ground-state exciton, providing important information to unravel the precise nature of quantum states. Successful demonstration of resonance fluorescence paves the way to probe the localized exciton coherence in two-dime…
