Abstract For the diagnosis of anti-MAG polyneuropathy the commercial ELISA manufacturer currently recommends a cut-off of 1000 Bühlmann Titer Units (BTU). We analyzed sera from 80 anti-MAG neuropathy patients and 383 controls (with other neuropathies or healthy controls) to assess the ELISA sensitivity and specificity at different thresholds. Upper limits on the isotropic gravitational-wave background from Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo's third observing run

We report results of a search for an isotropic gravitational-wave background (GWB) using data from Advanced LIGO's and Advanced Virgo's third observing run (O3) combined with upper limits from the earlier O1 and O2 runs. Unlike in previous observing runs in the advanced detector era, we include Virgo in the search for the GWB. The results are consistent with uncorrelated noise, and therefore we place upper limits on the strength of the GWB. By increasing their cold tolerance individuals can remain active for longer at the onset of winter and can recover more quickly from a cold shock. In insects, despite many physiological studies, little is known about the genetic basis of cold acclimation. Abstract The current study reports on a novel computerised colour vision test employing static and dynamic stimuli. The aim of the study was to assess if static and dynamic stimuli result in comparable chromatic discrimination thresholds when participant’s age is taken into account. Participants (n = 20) were 21 to 77 years old, had normal colour vision and no history of any eye disease. Visual Acuity and Contrast Sensitivity Depending from Keratoconus Apex Position

Abstract Various studies have demonstrated that patients with keratoconus have significant loss of contrast sensitivity while its value varies in different studies. None of these studies has analysed reduced contrast sensitivity depending on the position of apex of corneal conus. Visual acuity and contrast sensitivity were evaluated for patients with keratoconus using the FrACT software. Contrast sensitivity was assessed at the following frequencies: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 cycles per degree (cpd). Twenty-four eyes with keratoconus were analysed. Pelēki tonētu lēcu ietekme uz redzes funkcijām

Darbs ir uzrakstīts andļu valodā uz 27 lapaspusēm, tajā ir 12 attēli, 2 tabulas un 36 litteratūras avoti. Darba mērķis bija novērtēt, kā samazināta apgaismojuma apstākļi ietekmē redzes funkcijas gados jaunākiem un vecākiem dalībniekiem. Gados jauniem (21 – 35 gadi) un vecākiem (60 – 75 gadi) dalībniekiem tika mērīts augsta un zema kontrasta redzes asums. Mērījumi tika veikti ar un bez pelēki tonētām lēcām, kuru gaismas caurlaidība bija 50 %. Rezultāti parādīja, ka lielāks redzes asuma samazinājums, samazinoties optotipu kontrastam, bija novērojams gados vecākiem dalībniekiem. Augsta kontrasta redzes asums, mezopiskais redzes asums un kontrastjutība ir labi parametri acs optiskās kvalitātes novērtēšanai. Mezopiskais redzes asums ir ar augstu jutību, lai atklātu dalībniekus ar nelielas pakāpes apduļķojumiem acs optiskajās vidēs (agrīna katarakta). Este software es una programa de entrenamiento perceptual con estímulos acromáticos de contraste variable, sobre ruído aleatorio sintonizado a una banda de frecuencia. La aplicación ha sido desarrollada dentro en el marco de un estudio sobre la ambliopía, realizado por la profesora Rosa Hernández, y está todavía en proceso de evaluación. This is perceptual training software using achromatic stimuli with variable contrast and random noise tuned to a particular frequency bandwith. This app has been developed in the context of a study of amblyopia, carried out by professor Rosa Hernández, and is still under testing.
Redzes funkciju izvērtējums pacientiem agrīnā presbiopijas vecumā ar vienas dienas multifokālajām kontaktlēcām

Bakalaura darbs uzrakstīts uz 27 lapaspusēm, satur 18 zīmējumus, 1 tabulu un 20 literatūras avotus. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt redzes asumu un kontrasta jūtību fotopiskos un mezopiskos apstākļos pacientiem, koriģētiem ar brillēm un vienas dienas multifokālajām kontaktlēcām. Mūsu pētījumi parādīja, ka fotopiskos apstākļos pacientiem pēc korekcijas ar multifokālajām kontaktlēcām redzes asums vidēji samazinājās par 0,02 logMAR vienībām. Mezopiskos krēslas apstākļos pacientiem koriģētiem ar multifokālajām kontaktlēcām redzes asuma samazinājums vidēji bija 0.05 logMAR vienības. Atšķirības redzes asumā ir statistiski nozīmīgas.
