ABSTRACT Aim: To compare local control and toxicity in non melanoma skin cancer treated with electrons and Leipzig applicators. Methods: We evaluated 60 patients (pts) with non melanoma skin cancer treated using electrons and Leipzig applicators (microselectron-HDR afterloader). The lesions were: 30 basal cell cancer, 17 squamous cell cancer, 10 basosquamous cell cancer, 1 dermatofibrosarcoma, 1 keloid, 1 histiocytoma fibrosus. Median age was 54 (25-84). Abstract Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a non melanocytic skin cancer that arises from basal cells, affecting commonly fair-skinned human beings. Although the tumor is well known for local recurrences, extension into the intracranial space is reported. A case of a giant BCC of the scalp invading the middle and posterior third of the superior sagittal sinus (SSS) is reported. A 70-year-old male with a basal cell carcinoma history presented with a massive bleeding from the SSS invaded by the tumor. Ievads: Pētījumi liecina, ka ādas vēzis ir bieži sastopams audzējs pasaulē visās pasaules valstīs, tomēr ģimenes ārstu veikto ādas vēža kontroles pasākumu rādītāji nesaskan ar augsto saslimstību. Šajā pētījumā tiek izvērtētas pacientu un ģimenes ārstu atbildes uz sagatavotās anketas jautājumiem, lai izprastu iespējamās atšķirības profilakses pasākumu veikšanā, kā arī mijiedarbības faktorus ādas vēža diagnostikā un ārstēšanā ģimenes ārstu praksēs Latvijā. Convolutional neural networks in skin cancer detection using spatial and spectral domain

Skin cancers are world wide deathly health problem, where significant life and cost savings could be achieved if detection of cancer can be done in early phase. Hypespectral imaging is prominent tool for non-invasive screening. In this study we compare how use of both spectral and spatial domain increase classification performance of convolutional neural networks. We compare five different neural network architectures for real patient data. Our models gain same or slightly better positive predictive value as clinicians. Towards more general and reliable model more data is needed and collection of training data should be systematic. peerReviewed
