Psychological distress in relatives of critically ill patients: Risk and protective factors

The admission to an intensive care unit can result in a significant burden of emotional distress in the family. This study analyzes the psychological distress of 89 relatives of intensive care unit patients and the potential risk/protective factors for such distress. Families show high levels of anxiety, depression, and stress. Regarding risk factors, having steady partner, being a woman, and being a mother are associated with increased risk of anxiety, depression, and stress. Contrarily, being younger and having higher educational level are associated with reduced anxiety and stress. Weight stigma internalization among adolescents across weight categories leads to adverse psychological consequences. This study aims to adapt and validate a Chinese version of the Weight Bias Internalization Scale for Mainland Chinese children and adolescents(C-WBIS). A total of 464 individuals aged 9 to 15 years participated in the present study. Based on item response theory (IRT) and classical test theory (CTT), we selected the items for the C-WBIS and evaluated its reliability and validity. Debido a la fuerte vinculación entre la satisfacción sexual, de pareja y el apego de ambos miembros de la diada, el objetivo de esta investigación fue examinar la satisfacción de pareja y sexual en las diferentes combinaciones de estilos de apego. Para ello se analizó la satisfacción sexual y de pareja en los diferentes estilos de apego de cada participante y de su pareja. Resumen En el presente estudio se comprueba el papel mediador de la adaptabilidad a la carrera en la relacion existente entre la inteligencia emocional (IE) rasgo y el compromiso academico. La muestra comprende 590 estudiantes universitarios espanoles con una edad media de 21.66 anos. En los resultados se confirman las relaciones positivas entre la IE rasgo, la adaptabilidad a la carrera y el compromiso academico. Interventions with Sticky Social Norms: A Critique

Abstract We study the consequences of policy interventions when social norms are endogenous but costly to change. In our environment, a group faces a negative externality that it partially mitigates through incentives in the form of punishments. In this setting, policy interventions can have unexpected consequences. The most striking is that when the cost of bargaining is high, introducing a Pigouvian tax can increase output—yet in doing so increase welfare.
