The power of status: What determines one's reactions to anger in a social situation?

Abstract The present study examined how social status and gender determine anger expression and behavioral reactions toward experienced anger. In two experiments, anger was induced in a staged social interaction. Behavioral anger reactions were judged by observers. In Experiment 1 ( equal status condition ; N = 110) participants were provoked by a confederate, in Experiment 2 ( low status condition ; N = 116) participants were provoked by the experimenter. We found that participants expressed their anger to a lesser extent, were less resistant, and engaged in submissive behaviors if they had a lower status than the anger-target. This study examines the effectiveness of brand endorsements in vlogs (video blogs) by assessing the role of audience participation, parasocial relationship, and valence toward vlog endorsements on the perceived credibility of the vlogger and brand attitudes. Four experimental conditions were created on Qualtrics based on a YouTube vlog where the endorser reviewed a few products. The data were collected using Mturk and analyzed with 203 usable responses. The findings indicate that audience participation in the vlog enhances para-social relationship with the vlogger, thus further fostering the vlogger's perceived credibility as an endorser. The institutional regulation of counselling conversations does not always provide optimal conditions for counselling. Many teachers experience that some “normal” conversations develop into conversations which are of a counselling nature. Conversations which resemble counselling can be optimal counselling opportunities. Destruction of the osteocartilaginous framework of the nose and sinuses is a well-known side effect of inhaled cocaine. Palate involvement is, however, a very uncommon event that may lead to oronasal communication with the subsequent food and liquids reflux and nasal speech. Given the addictive character of this etiologic agent, the management of cocaine-induced palatal perforations tends to be conservative by means of a prosthetic obturator.
