Syntheses and structure of bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)dithiophosphinato complexes

Bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)phosphane Cp*2PH reacts with sulfur under basic conditions to give the corresponding dithiophosphinate salts M+ CP*2PS−2 (5 M+ = HNEt+3, 6 M+ = Li+), which are formed via the intermediate CP*2P(S)H (4). Both salts on treatment with cobalt(II) chloride give rise to the transition metal dithiophosphinate 7. The structures of this new type of diorganodithiophosphinate complexes in the solid state have been investigated. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Heteroatom Chem 8: 521–525, 1997
International solidarity in the GDR and transnationality: an analysis of primary school materials for Namibian child refugees

As part of a solidarity project between the South West African People’s Organization (SWAPO) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR), approximately 430 Namibian children were brought to the GDR from 1979 to 1989 to be trained as an elite for a future liberated Namibia. The children attended school in the GDR until they were brought back to Namibia in August 1990. The school lessons intertwined topics about Namibia and SWAPO with the usual GDR school curriculum. The linchpin of this intertwining was the socialist ideal of international solidarity. This article uses an objective-hermeneutic analysis to show how the school materials produced transnationality.

Analysis of the influence of the Treaty of Lisbon on the EU immigration reguiations with particular attention to the principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibility between Member States indicates that the Treaty of Lisbon extensively reformed these reguiations. Its premise and mechanisms should be assessed as justified. However, they give a lot ofleeway for interpretation and need to be supplemented with EU secondary law. Synthesis and Characterisation of Chiral Triazole-Based Halogen-Bond Donors: Halogen Bonds in the Solid State and in Solution

A general platform for the synthesis of various chiral halogen-bond (XB) donors based on the triazole core and the characterisation of factors that influence the strength of the halogen bond in the solid state and in solution are reported. The characterisation of XB donors in the solid state by X-ray crystallography and in solution by 1H NMR titration can be used to aid the design of new XB donors. We describe the first example of a XB between iodotriazoles and thioureas in solution. In addition, the enantiodiscrimination of acceptors in solution through halogen-bond participation is described.

The (2-phenyl-2-trimethylsilyl)ethyl-(PTMSEL) linker represents a novel fluoride-sensitive anchor for the solid-phase synthesis of protected peptides and glycopeptides. Its cleavage is achieved under almost neutral conditions using tetrabutylammonium fluoride trihydrate in dichloromethane thus allowing the construction of complex molecules sensitive to basic and acidic media commonly required for the cleavage of standard linker systems. The advantages of the PTMSEL linker are demonstrated in the synthesis of glycopeptides from the liver intestine (LI)-cadherin and the mucin MUC1, bearing carbohydrate moieties such as N-linked chitobiose or O-linked sialyl-T(N)-residues. A small library of compounds with an oxa(thia)zole scaffold and structural diversity in both positions 2 and 5 has been synthesized. Double acylation of a protected glycine affords intermediate alpha-amido-beta-ketoesters, which in turn can be dehydrated to afford 1,3-oxazoles or reacted with Lawesson's reagent to furnish 1,3-thiazoles. This procedure was designed with its adaptation to fluorous techniques in mind. Thus, when a protected glycine with a fluorous tag in the ester moiety is used as a starting material, the synthesis can be easily completed without column chromatography purification of intermediate compounds with good to excellent yields, thus affording a suitable entry to the …
