Nambu structures and super-theorem of Amitsur-Levitzki

2004

In this thesis, we establish new polynomial identities in a non commutative combinatorial framework. In the first part, we present new Nambu-Lie structures by classifying all (n-1)-structures in \R^n and we give a method for defining all-order brackets in Lie algebras. We are able to quantify one of our structures, thanks to standard polynomials and even Clifford algebras. In the second part of our work, we generalize the notion of standard polynomials to graded algebras, and we prove an Amitsur-Levitzki type theorem for the Lie superalgebras \osp(1,2n) inspired by Kostant's cohomological interpretation of the classical theorem. We give super versions of properties and results needed in Kos…

Inter-laboratory evaluation of the ISO standard 11063 "Soil quality -- Method to directly extract DNA from soil samples"

2011

International audience; Extracting DNA directly from micro-organisms living in soil is a crucial step for the molecular analysis of soil microbial communities. However, the use of a plethora of different soil DNA extraction protocols, each with its own bias, makes accurate data comparison difficult. To overcome this problem, a method for soil DNA extraction was proposed to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2006. This method was evaluated by 13 independent European laboratories actively participating in national and international ring tests. The reproducibility of the standardized method for molecular analyses was evaluated by comparing the amount of DNA extracted, …

Linking BIM and GIS Standard Ontologies with Linked Data

2020

International audience; Following the analysis of existing BIM and GIS standards, formats, differences in the interpretations of the underlying concepts have been identified. Still, in each of the two considered domains several ontologies have been defined for these terms without seeking an alignment among their definitions. With this scope in mind, this article presents several mappings expressed by means of explicit semantic links between GIS concepts (as present in the related ontologies for the ISO 191XX standard family) and BIM concepts (as represented in the IFC standard ISO 16739:2018). Such semantic mappings are defined in order to ensure a knowledge continuum between both domains, …

Le cône diamant

2010

The diamond cone was introduced by N. J. Wildberger for the Lie algebra sl(n;R). It is a combinatoric presentation for the space C[N] of polynomials functions on the nilpotent factor N in the Iwasawa decomposition of SL(n;R). This presentation describes the natural layering of this indecomposable N-module. This basis can be indexeded by using some semi standard Young tableaux. We realize the algebra C[N] as a quotient of the shape algebra S_ for SL(n;R). Let us call reduced shape algebra this quotient. It is possible to select a family of semi standard Young tableaux, the quasi standard tableaux, in such a manner to get a basis for the reduced shape algebra. In the present thesis, this cons…

New exclusion limits on scalar and pseudoscalar axionlike particles from light shining through a wall

2015

Physics beyond the Standard Model predicts the possible existence of new particles that can be searched at the low-energy frontier in the sub-eV range. The OSQAR photon regeneration experiment looks for ``light shining through a wall'' from the quantum oscillation of optical photons into ``weakly interacting sub-eV particles,'' such as axion or axionlike particles (ALPs) in a 9 T transverse magnetic field over a length of $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}14.3\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{m}$. In 2014, this experiment was run with an outstanding sensitivity, using an 18.5 W continuous wave laser emitting in the green at the single wavelength of 532 nm. No regenerated photons have been detected …

Phase partitioning of aerosol particles in clouds at Kleiner Feldberg

1994

The partitioning of aerosol particles between cloud droplets and interstitial air by number and volume was determined both in terms of an integral value and as a function of size for clouds on Mt. Kleiner Feldberg (825 m asl), in the Taunus Mountains north-west of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Differences in the integral values and the size dependent partitioning between two periods during the campaign were observed. Higher number and volume concentrations of aerosol particles in the accumulation mode were observed during Period II compared to Period I. In Period I on average 87 ± 11% (±one standard deviation) and 73 ± 7% of the accumulation mode volume and number were incorporated into cloud…

Assessment of Adult Mouse Brain Neuroanatomical Phenotypes Using Quantitative and Precision Histology

2022

Modelling human neurodevelopmental disorders is important in biomedical research since the brain cannot be easily accessed in humans. In this chapter, we describe a series of standardized procedures for the reliable analysis of neuroanatomical phenotypes (NAPs) of the adult mouse brain using quantitative 2D histological practices. Our goal is to provide the reader an experimental pipeline, ranging from experimental work through to data analysis, which can be performed in any academic research setting with or without access to a histology platform. Depending on the type of sections studied, parasagittal or coronal, the assessment of brain neuroanatomy is performed at stereotaxic sections, at…
