Luminescent TOP Nanosensors for Simultaneously Measuring Temperature, Oxygen, and pH at a Single Excitation Wavelength

Two nanosensors for simultaneous optical measurements of the bioanalytically and biologically relevant analytes temperature (“T”), oxygen (“O”), and pH (“P”) have been designed. These “TOP” nanosensors are based on 100 nm-sized silica-coated polystyrene nanoparticles (PS-NPs) doped with a near-infrared emissive oxygen- and temperature-sensitive chromium(III) complex ([Cr(ddpd)2][BPh4]3, CrBPh4) and an inert reference dye (Nile Red, NR or 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl) porphyrin, TFPP) and are covalently labeled with pH-sensitive fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC). High-resolution rovibrational spectroscopy of c-C3H2+: The ν7 C–H antisymmetric stretching band

Abstract The ν 7 antisymmetric C–H stretching fundamental of c- C 3 H 2 + has been characterized in a cryogenic 22-pole ion trap by a novel type of action spectroscopy, in which the rovibrational excitation of c- C 3 H 2 + is detected as a slowing down of the low-temperature reaction c- C 3 H 2 +  + H2 → C 3 H 3 + + H. Ninety-one rovibrational transitions with partly resolved fine structure doublets were measured in high resolution. Computational study of the spin-forbidden H 2 oxidative addition to 16-electron Fe(0) complexes

International audience; The spin-forbidden oxidative addition of H2 to Fe(CO)4, Fe(PH3)4, Fe(dpe)2 and Fe(dmpe)2 [dpe = H2PCH2CH2PH2, dmpe = (CH3)2PCH2CH2P(CH3)2] has been investigated by density functional theory using a modified B3PW91 functional. All 16-electron fragments are found to adopt a spin triplet ground state. The H2 addition involves a spin crossover in the reagents region of configurational space, at a significantly higher energy relative to the triplet dissociation asymptote and, for the case of Fe(CO)4·H2, even higher than the singlet dissociation asymptote. Spiro-fused bis-hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene.

A spiro-fused hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene dimer was synthesized, and its physicochemical properties were studied by UV-Vis absorption and emission spectroscopy as well as cyclic voltammetry. Chemical oxidation of SB-HBC afforded its radical cation and dication derivatives, which could be reversibly reduced to the neutral state.

Mechanism of activated chemiluminescence of cyclic peroxides: 1,2-dioxetanes and 1,2-dioxetanones

Almost all chemiluminescent and bioluminescent reactions involve cyclic peroxides. The structure of the peroxide and reaction conditions determine the quantum efficiency of light emission. Oxidizable fluorophores, the so-called activators, react with 1,2-dioxetanones promoting the former to their first singlet excited state. This transformation is inefficient and does not occur with 1,2-dioxetanes; however, they have been used as models for the efficient firefly bioluminescence. Structural Tuning and Conformational Stability of Aromatic Oligoamide Foldamers

A series of aromatic oligoamide foldamers with two or three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide units as their main folding motifs and varying aromatic building blocks as linkers have been synthetized to study the effects of the structural variation on the folding properties and conformational stability. Crystallographic studies showed that in the solid state the central linker unit either elongates the helices and more open S-shaped conformations, compresses the helices to more compact conformations or acts as a rigid spacer separating the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide units, which for their part add the predictability of the conformational properties. A new hydrogen bonding motif involved in self-recognition in the solid state by functionalised macrocycles

Self-recognition within the crystal lattices of three functionalised macrocycles results in the formation of arrays of remarkably similar hermaphroditic pairs of macrocycles. In the case of two of the macrocycles containing acylhydrazine substituents, a hitherto unknown recognition pattern is found in the interaction of the hydrazine moiety with crown-ether oxygen atoms.

An investigation of photo- and pressure-induced effects in a pair of isostructural two-dimensional spin-crossover framework materials

International audience; Two new isostructural iron(II) spin-crossover (SCO) framework (SCOF) materials of the type [Fe(dpms)2 (NCX)2 ] (dpms=4,4'-dipyridylmethyl sulfide; X=S (SCOF-6(S)), X=Se (SCOF-6(Se))) have been synthesized. The 2D framework materials consist of undulating and interpenetrated rhomboid (4,4) nets. SCOF-6(S) displays an incomplete SCO transition with only approximately 30 % conversion of high-spin (HS) to low-spin iron(II) sites over the temperature range 300-4 K (T1/2 =75 K). A series of gold(I) alkynyl-diphosphine complexes (XC6H4C2Au)PPh2—spacer—PPh2(AuC2C6H4X); spacer = —C2(C6H4)nC2— (A1, n = 2, X = CF3; A2, n = 2, X = OMe; A3, n = 3, X = CF3; A4, n = 3, X = OMe), —(C6H4)n— (B5, n = 3, X = OMe; B6, n = 4, X = OMe) were prepared, and their photophysical properties were investigated. A trigonal prismatic anionic iron(iii) complex of a radical o-iminobenzosemiquinonate derivative: structural and spectral analyses

A new iron(III) complex, [Et3NH][FeIII(L2−˙)2] (1) with a substituted o-aminophenol based ligand is reported. Complex 1 is an anionic complex with a triethylammonium cation in the lattice. It contains two O,O,N-coordinated o-iminobenzosemiquinonate(2−) radical anions with an Fe(III) centre in a high-spin configuration.
