Background: The aim of this study was to compare the WaveOne Gold and ProTaper Next systems regarding the time spent preparing simulated canals performed by an inexperienced student. Material and Methods: 80 simulated L-shaped canals were randomly divided into two groups (n = 40) and numbered in order of instrumentation. Canals were instrumented with WaveOne Gold (group 1) and ProTaper Next (group 2) systems. The effective instrumentation time and the number of instrumentation cycles were recorded. This paper investigates the relationship between saving and health spending in a two-period overlapping generations economy. Individuals work in the first period of life and live in retirement in old age. Health spending is an activity that increases quality of life and longevity. Empirical evidence shows that both health spending and saving behave as luxury goods but their behaviour differs markedly according to the level of per capita GDP. Our aim is to compare contrast sensitivity to stimuli with different spatio-temporal frequencies in glaucomatous (G) and ocular hypertensive (OHT) subjects. Purpose To evaluate benefits and side effects of bandage soft contact lens (BSCL) insertion after LASIK in relation to patients’ characteristics. Design Prospective, randomized, bicenter comparative investigational trial. Participants One hundred patients (200 eyes) with myopia and/or myopic astigmatism. Methods Each patient underwent consecutive (Marburg, Germany) or simultaneous (Mainz, Germany) bilateral LASIK. At the end of the procedure, the first treated eye received a drop of ofloxacin and dexamethasone, patch, and transparent protective shield for 2 to 4 hours. Rationale. Poststernotomy pain and impaired breathing are common clinical problems in early postoperative care following heart surgery. Insufficiently treated pain increases the risk of pulmonary complications. High-dose opioids are used for pain management, but they may cause side effects such as respiratory depression.Study Design.
