The Influence of Brassinosteroid, a Growth-promoting Steroidal Lactone, on Development and CO2-fixation Capacity of Intact Wheat and Mustard Seedlings
1984
In 1970, Mitchell et al. isolated a lipoidal complex from the pollen of rape (Brassica napus L.). This complex, called “Brassins” was found to have partly powerful growth-promoting properties. The novel growth response of young bean plants in the second internode assay (Worley, Mitchell 1971; Mitchell, Gregory 1972) and other physiological changes following Brassin-treatment have been studied under several aspects (Krizek, Worley 1981; Gregory 1981).
Nonsteroidal Antiinflammatory Agents, XVIII: C-5 Functionalized 6,7-Diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolizines as Inhibitors of Bovine Cyclooxygenase and 5…
1994
6-(4-Chlorophenyl)-7-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolizines with functional groups at position 5 of the heterocyclic moiety were synthesized and tested. To determine their antiinflammatory activity bovine blood was used as enzyme source for the cyclooxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase, respectively. The iminoxy acetic acid derivative and the iminotetrazole selectively inhibit the 5-lipoxygenase, all the other compounds show medium or low affinity to the active sites of cyclooxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase. In general all compounds inhibit 5-lipoxygenase more effectively than cyclooxygenase. Concerning the inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase the most active compounds found are equipotent to the corresponding pro…
Stable Expression of Heterologous Sulfotransferase in V79 Cells: Activation of Primary and Secondary Benzylic Alcohols
1994
Abstract A sulfotransferase (ST) capable of activating 1-hydroxymethylpyrene (HMP) and 9-hydroxymethylanthracene (HMA) to mutagens was purified from rat liver. This enzyme appeared to be identical with hydroxysteroid STa, whose cDNA was cloned and stably expressed in Chinese hamster V79 cells. Several primary and secondary benzylic alcohols derived from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons induced gene mutations, sister chromatid exchanges (SCE) and/or cytotoxicity in these cells.
Three Spirostanol Glycosides from the Seeds of Hyoscyamus Niger L.
2006
Three steroidal glycosides of spirostane series have been isolated from the seeds of Hyoscyamus niger L.(Solanaceae). Their structures were determined on the basis of chemical evidence and extensive spectroscopic methods including one-dimensional, two-dimensional NMR and MS analysis. In the genus Hyoscyamus the given compounds have been found out for the first time.

Saponins as immunoadjuvants and immunostimulants
1999
Saponins are either triterpene or steroid glycosides widely distributed in the plant and animal kingdom and include a large number of biologically active compounds. Most of them have surface-active and cholesterol-binding properties.
Biologically and Pharmacologically Active Saponins from Plants: Recent Advances
2000
Saponins as triterpene or steroid glycosides were well known in ancient times for their detergent, haemolytic and fish toxic activities, properties which are correlated with the amphiphilic character of the molecules and their ability to complex cholesterol.

2017
The title compound is a polyoxygenated epoxy steroid that crystallizes in the P212121 space group.
