A Model of Goal Dynamics in Organizations: Goal Setting, Goal Commitment, Training and Management by Objectives

2009

The purpose of the present work is to build a suitable system dynamics model for goal dynamics in organizations, as proposed by Barlas & Yasarcan (2008). The proposed model does not bear any ambition of being exhaustive: the main objective of this paper is to propose a model of goal dynamics in which Goal Setting, Management by Objectives and Training are viewed as human resource practices able to enhance workers’ goal commitment, and therefore, improve organizational performance. A causal loop and a quantitative model of goal dynamics in organizations are described. A base run and 4 different scenarios are provided. Limitations of the present research and conclusions are finally discussed.…

The role of Private Equity-firms in the formation of strategic alliances

2014

This research analyses the role of Private Equity firms in the formation of strategic alliances within the field of the French Private Equity market. We start to provide evidence of its importance from new survey information, before offering an explanation of the organizational phenomenon. The study addresses the questions of how and why Private Equity firms act as relational intermediaries to help their portfolio companies form alliances. Both questions are investigated in the light of the Private Equity firms’ contribution to the value creation process that comes with alliance formation. Answers are provided by means of three jointly used theoretical frameworks: (1) mainstream theories (t…

Roles Of Stakeholders In Strategic Decision-Making Of Microfinance Organizations

2010

Microfinance organizations provide financial services to low income people. These organizations have been increasing dramatically worldwide. This increment calls attention for these organizations and their boards to make strategic decisions which enable them perform well and compete with each other. Based on literature, this paper identifies six types of microfinance stakeholders who sit on boards. These are clients, employees, government, donors, creditors and owners. This paper discusses the different roles of these stakeholders when they sit on boards of microfinance organizations and these roles are further explained to show how they contribute to the process of making strategic decisio…

Spatial Allocation of European Structural Funds: What Is the Role of Strategic Interactions?

2020

This chapter explores the role of strategic interactions that affect the spatial allocation of structural funds in the European Union. More specifically, this chapter seeks to test if the interactions between government decisions are strategic substitutes or complements in the context of the European structural funds allocation. First, we present a theoretical model which depicts how the strategic interactions could affect the allocation of public grants in a bargaining process. Then, we test the direction of strategic interaction on the allocation of structural funds for the 2000–2006 programming period using spatial econometric techniques. We find a negative spatial interaction between Eu…

Yield Management and Airline Strategic Groups

2011

A new strategic group of companies has appeared in Europe. This group, low-cost airlines, differs markedly from the traditional flagship companies. Focusing on a dynamic approach, the study discussed in this paper was developed to determine whether companies in different strategic groups adopted different price setting methods depending on which group they belonged to. The study is based on price information recorded at 11 different time periods for 12 airlines.

Segmentación y comportamiento de lealtad de los pacientes: un análisis clúster en los departamentos de salud de la Comunidad Valenciana

2018

Under a health ser vice framework marked by the territory segmentation and the coexistence of public administration and publicprivate ventures, it makes sense to analyze and classif y the health ser vice departments by considering the following objectives: to know the way patients actually behave when the choice of the ser vice place is up to themselves; to adapt the ser vice offer to the patient’s preferences; and to organize health ser vice based on the territory location, thus considering its influence on the management model. Secondary data from the Valencian Community (over two million data) are used in the cluster analysis of the patient loyal behavior (entering , retention and drop ou…

Biotransformation and toxicity effect of monoanthraquinone dyes during Bjerkandera adusta CCBAS 930 cultures.

2020

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate of possibility of biotransformation and toxicity effect of monoanthraquinone dyes in cultures of Bjerkandera adusta CCBAS 930. Phenolic compounds, free radicals, phytotoxicity (Lepidium sativum L.), ecotoxicity (Vibrio fischeri) and cytotoxicity effect were evaluated to determine the toxicity of anthraquinone dyes before and after the treatment with B. adusta CCBAS 930. More than 80% of ABBB and AB129 was removed by biodegradation (decolorization) and biosorption, but biodegradation using oxidoreductases was the main dye removing mechanism. Secondary products toxic to plants and bacteria were formed in B. adusta strain CCBAS 930 cultures, despi…

Factors influencing structural heat-induced structural relaxation of dissolved organic matter

2018

Abstract Physical and chemical structure affect properties of dissolved organic matter (DOM). Recent observations revealed that heating and cooling cycles at higher temperature amplitude lead to a change in DOM physical conformation assumingly followed by a slow structural relaxation. In this study, changes at lower temperature amplitudes and their relation to DOM composition were investigated using simultaneous measurements of density and ultrasonic velocity in order to evaluate the adiabatic compressibility, which is sensitive indicator of DOM structural microelasticity. Six fulvic acids (FAs) having various origins were analyzed at concentrations of 0.12, 0.6 and 1.2 g L−1 and at differe…

Assessment of chronic effects of tebuconazole on survival, reproduction and growth of Daphnia magna after different exposure times

2015

The effect of the fungicide tebuconazole (0.41, 0.52, 0.71 and 1.14mg/L) on survival, reproduction and growth of Daphnia magna organisms was monitored using 14 and 21 days exposure tests. A third experiment was performed by exposing D. magna to the fungicide for 14 days followed by 7 days of recovery (14+7). In order to test fungicide effects on D. magna, parameters as survival, mean whole body length, mean total number of neonates per female, mean number of broods per female, mean brood size per female, time to first brood/reproduction and intrinsic rate of natural increase (r) were used. Reproduction was seriously affected by tebuconazole. All tebuconazole concentrations tested affected t…
