Mass spectra of chlorinated veratroles (1,2-dimethoxybenzenes)

1987

The behaviour of all nine chlorinated veratroles (1,2-dimethoxybenzenes) under electron impact has been investigated. The most common fragmentation processes are interpreted using metastable ion analysis and deuterium labelled compounds. For all compounds studied, the most common fragmentation route seems to be the primary loss of a methyl radical followed by loss of carbon monoxide. The ion formed has a well-known quinonoid structure and fragments by several routes elucidated by metastable ion analysis. In general, the spectra of the positional isomers are shown to be practically similar and it is apparent that e.g. the 3- and 4-chloro isomers can be differentiated only from the abundance …

On the reaction of some 5-polyfluoroaryl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles with methylhydrazine: synthesis of fluorinated indazoles

2009

The reaction of 5-polyfluoroaryl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles with methylhydrazine has been studied and the synthesis of fluorinated N-methylindazoles has been realized. Rearrangement reactions showed predominantly formation of N(1)-methylindazole regioisomers. Starting compounds were preliminarily functionalized at the polyfluoroaryl moiety through fluorine displacement with nucleophiles (methanol, methylamine, dimethylamine), allowing the obtainment of target indazoles substituted at the C(6) position.

Positional Isomers of Chromophore–Peptide Conjugates Self-Assemble into Different Morphologies

2018

Ordering π-systems into defined supramolecular structures is important for the development of organic functional materials. In recent years, peptides with defined secondary structures and/or self-assembly properties were introduced as powerful tools to order peptide-chromophore conjugates into different morphologies. This work explores whether or not the directionality of peptides can be used to control the self-assembly. The position of the π-system in conjugates between oligoprolines and perylene monoimide (PMI) chromophores was varied by attaching the PMI moiety to the second-to-last residue from the C- and N-termini, respectively. Microscopic and diffraction analysis revealed that the p…

Synthesis and application of β-substituted Pauson-Khand adducts: trifluoromethyl as a removable steering group.

2013

The reaction between alkynes (I) and norbornadiene (II) affords the β-substituted Pauson—Khand adducts (III) as single regioisomers and the trifluoromethyl steering group can be easily removed in the presence of DBU and water.

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition of 1H-pyrazinium-3-olate and N1- and C-methyl substituted pyrazinium-3-olates with methyl acrylate: a density functional th…

2011

Abstract A DFT study of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of methyl acrylate to 1H-pyrazinium-3-olate and N1- and C-methyl substituted pyrazinium-3-olates, in the gas phase and in THF, has been carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level. Two stereoisomeric pathways, endo and exo, and two regioisomeric channels, 2-oxo-3,8-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-6-ester and 7-ester products, have been considered. Thermodynamic and kinetic parameters calculated at room temperature have been analyzed. The regioselectivity has been interpreted using reactivity indices. It is generally found that the exo pathway is preferred and the formation of the 6-esters is dominant. The theoretical data obtained for the cycloadd…

Fast analysis of polyphenols and alkaloids in cocoa-based products by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and Orbitrap high resolution mass …

2018

The cocoa varieties Criollo, Forastero and Trinitario, which have different organoleptic properties, quite often are mixed together in cocoa-based products. The objective of this work was to develop a rapid method for the simultaneous determination of polyphenols (n = 35) and alkaloids (n = 2) in cocoa-based products by using the high throughput advantages provided by the Q Exactive Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer (FIRMS). The proposed procedure was optimized and validated in terms of selectivity and specificity (mass accuracy 0.990), accuracy (recovery range from 89.1 to 112.4%) and precision (relative standard deviation < 10%). The method was applied to 80 cocoa-based samples…

Reaction mechanism of regioisomerization in binuclear (diaminocarbene)PdII complexes

2021

Abstract A series of binuclear PdII carbene complexes were synthesized via the treatment of cis-[PdCl2(CNXyl)2] (1) with benzo-1,3-thiazol-2-amines (2–6) and structurally characterized. In every case the reaction leads to the mixture of two regioisomers, which are able to interconvert. The study of the regioisomerization of the binuclear diaminocarbene species showed that it is a first-order reaction, that is, it occurs intramolecularly, and was analyzed with the Hammett function. Electron-withdrawing substituents in the benzothiazole moiety of the complexes as well as increasing the solvent polarity accelerate the reaction. The solvent donor strength correlates less well with the isomeriza…

Mass spectra of methoxychlorobenzenes (chloroanisoles)

1988

Electron impact mass of all 19 ring-substituted chloroanisoles have been investigated. The fragmentation pathways were elucidated with the aid of the 1st field-free region metastable ions. The greatest disparity between the spectra of the positional isomers is shown with the [M−CH 3 ] + and [M−CH 2 O] +• ions, i.e., the ortho and para isomers preferentially lose • CH 3 , whereas the meta isomers generally show both loss of • CH 3 and elimination of formaldehyde, the latter process being more dominant with the meta-monochloro and di- and trichloro isomers having two meta-chlorine atoms. Characteristic for all isomers is also the abundant M +• and [M−CH 3 −CO] + ions, the other fragmentation …

Terphenyl Derivatives from Allantophomopsis lycopodina.

2016

Three secondary fungal metabolites 1–3 with a benzo[b]naphtho[2,1-d]furan skeleton were isolated from submerged cultures of the ascomycete Allantophomopsis lycopodina. The NMR-based structure elucidation was challenging due to a low H/C ratio of only 0.64 and 0.68, respectively. NMR measurements in two different solvents and the use of NMR experiments such as HSQC-TOCSY and LR-HSQMBC proved to be helpful in this respect. The proposed structures obtained from the comprehensive analysis of the NMR data were verified by comparison of recorded and computed NMR chemical shifts from quantum chemical calculations of several constitutional isomers and were further analyzed with the aid of the DP4 a…

Dihydroisocoumarins, Naphthalenes, and Further Polyketides from Aloe vera and A. plicatilis: Isolation, Identification and Their 5-LOX/COX-1 Inhibiti…

2021

The present study aims at the isolation and identification of diverse phenolic polyketides from Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f. and Aloe plicatilis (L.) Miller and includes their 5-LOX/COX-1 inhibiting potency. After initial Sephadex-LH20 gel filtration and combined silica gel 60- and RP18-CC, three dihydroisocoumarins (nonaketides), four 5-methyl-8-C-glucosylchromones (heptaketides) from A. vera, and two hexaketide-naphthalenes from A. plicatilis have been isolated by means of HSCCC. The structures of all polyketides were elucidated by ESI-MS and 2D 1H/13C-NMR (HMQC, HMBC) techniques. The analytical/preparative separation of 3R-feralolide, 3′-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl- and the new 6-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl…
