Children's exploration of the concepts of home and belonging: Capturing views from five European countries.

Understanding one's sense of belonging is a central part of identity formation and self-awareness; feeling safe somewhere, with specific people is identified as a basic human need. This paper explores the ideas of children from three age groups in five different European as they discussed the concepts of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’. Findings showed that the children's ideas could be organised into six interrelated aspects: Spatiality, Materiality, Multiplicity, Social Relations, Affect, and Dislocation. The Role of Perceived Social Support as a Contributor to the Successful Transition from Primary to Lower Secondary School

Following approximately 1,800 Finnish children, this longitudinal study examined the associations between students’ perceived social support (teacher-student relationships, family support, and peer support), behavioral engagement, cynicism towards school, and academic achievement during the transition from primary to lower secondary school. After controlling for parental educational level and cynicism before the school transition, the results showed that the more students experienced pre-transition peer support, the less they reported post-transition cynicism. Moisture damage can influence the subjective assessment of indoor air quality (subjective IAQ) in various ways. We studied whether the frequency of symptoms reported across students at school level mediates the relationship between observed mold and dampness in a school building and students' subjective IAQ. Socio-emotional Problems Experienced by Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students in Ethiopia

This study compares the socio-emotional problems experienced by deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students with those of hearing students in Ethiopia. The research involved a sample of 103 grade 4 students attending a special school for the deaf, a special class for the deaf and a regular school. Socio-emotional problems were measured using Goodman's self-report measure, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire for children and adolescents. Participants were selected from seven towns in Ethiopia. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia pedagogista näkökulmaa kommunikatiiviseen kielitaitoon, joka on syrjäyttämässä vanhaa kielikäsitystä kielestä pelkkänä sanoista ja rakenteista rakentuvana systeeminä. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli myös erityisesti tarkastella, miten kommunikatiivisempi käsitys kielestä on vaikuttanut keskipitkän ruotsin ylioppilaskokeen kirjallisen osan sanasto- ja rakenneosion osatehtävään 2.2. Tutkimus on luonteeltaan kvalitatiivinen sisällönanalyysi. Tutkimieni ylioppilaskokeiden osatehtävät ovat vuosilta 2008–2014.
