Surgical therapy of recurrent vulvar cancer.

Objective The success of various surgical interventions in 201 cases with recurrent vulvar carcinoma was examined in the light of patients' pretreatment, surgical therapy, plastic reconstruction, and postoperative disease course. Study design A databank of standardized clinical data was analyzed using statistical procedures. Results Therapy was selected on an individual basis according to tumor status. Recurrence at a site distant from the primary tumor, particularly in the inguinal region, indicated a markedly unfavorable prognosis. Reconstructive plastic surgery in the treatment of vulvar carcinomas

Abstract Objective The results obtained using plastic surgery reconstruction in 207 patients with a primary or recurrent vulvar carcinoma were analyzed with regard to the surgical procedures applied, pre-treatment and post-operative findings, along with the long-term oncological disease course. Study design Standardized data concerning the surgical procedures applied and clinical factors were collected in a databank and statistically analyzed. Results The flaps employed were termed either ‘local' (cutaneous or fasciocutaneous; n =84) or ‘regional' (myocutaneous, n =123). Inguinal Reconstruction Using Pedicled Rectus Abdominis Flap: A Useful Option for the Application of Radiotherapy.

Given their high rate of complications, radical surgical procedures of anorectal and gynecological tumors require a reliable and individualized reconstruction. The latter is influenced by the frequent indication of adjuvant chemo/radiotherapy that they present. We describe the case of a patient with medical history of vulvar carcinoma that required radical surgery and bilateral inguinal lymphadenectomy. Head and neck cancer surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic: An international, multicenter, observational cohort study

Background The aims of this study were to provide data on the safety of head and neck cancer surgery currently being undertaken during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods This international, observational cohort study comprised 1137 consecutive patients with head and neck cancer undergoing primary surgery with curative intent in 26 countries. Factors associated with severe pulmonary complications in COVID-19-positive patients and infections in the surgical team were determined by univariate analysis. Abstract The purpose of this systematic review was to critically analyze the recent literature to present the state of the art in customized reconstruction of orbital fractures. Three electronic databases and manual search approaches were used to identify relevant articles. Only studies with a controlled clinical study design were included. Isolation of fibroblasts for coating of meshes for reconstructive surgery: differences between mesh types.

Aims: An extensive colonization of surgical meshes with autologous fibroblasts may reduce complications. Therefore, we aimed to establish a technique that allows isolation and propagation of fibroblasts from vaginal biopsies. Using these cells we tested the applicability of several clinically applied meshes for fibroblast coating. Background. Labia minora hypertrophy is a congenital or acquired condition in which both labia minora (or more rarely only one) protrude beyond the edge of the labia majora.
