Computed tomography imaging needs for novel transcatheter tricuspid valve repair and replacement therapies
2020
Abstract Transcatheter tricuspid valve therapies are an emerging field in structural heart interventions due to the rising number of patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation and the high risk for surgical treatment. Computed tomography (CT) allows exact measurements of the annular plane, evaluation of adjacent structures, assessment of the access route, and can also be used to identify optimal fluoroscopic projection planes to enhance periprocedural imaging. This review provides an overview of current transcatheter tricuspid valve repair and replacement therapies and to what extent CT can support these interventions.
336 Is a vaginectomy enough or is a pelvic exenteration always required for surgical treatment of recurrent cervical cancer?
2020
Introduction No consensus has yet been reached on the best strategy for treatment of cervical cancer local recurrence. Vaginectomy could be a salvage treatment in selected patients. Methods The records of vaginal recurrent cervical cancer patients admitted at Fondazione Policlinico ‘Agostino Gemelli’ IRCCS in Rome from January 2010 to June 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. We reported perioperative and survival outcomes of vaginectomy with respect to a matched series of pelvic exenteration (PE). Results Fifteen women underwent vaginectomy and 30 patients were submitted to PE. No statistical differences were observed between the two groups at baseline characteristics. The vaginectomy proce…

Quality of life in elderly patients after inguinal hernioplasty
2009
Background and aim Inguinal hernia is the most frequent abdominal wall her- nias in elderly population. Surgical treatment must be aware of the cardiovascular and respiratory disease these patients are often affected by. Inguinal hernia is responsi- ble to impair the quality of life (QoL). Aim of this study was to evaluate the QoL through the Short-Form (SF)-36 questionnaire in a cohort of elderly patients undergoing inguinal hernioplasty. Materials and methods Fifteen male patients of age ≥75 years affected by sympto- matic unilateral uncomplicated inguinal hernia were included in this study. All patients undergoing inguinal hernioplasty in local anaesthesia according to the Liech- tenstei…
The Thin bilateral and bipedicled DIEAP flap for axillary reconstruction in hidradenitis suppurativa
2019
Reconstruction after resection of advanced stage hidradenitis suppurativa is currently performed with pedicled perforator flaps, that allow functional reconstruction and preservation of shoulder function. Skin availability is limited by the possibility of closing the donor site primarily. Bilateral cases need to be treated in two stages, since the operation is carried out in the lateral decubitus. In this manuscript the application of bilateral and bipedicled DIEAP flaps to bilateral and extensive cases is presented.Between October 2008 and October 2018, 39 patients were treated for axillary hidradenitis suppurativa. Of these, 11 patients had bilateral reconstruction with bilateral DIEAP fl…

En el presente artículo se revisan los criterios actuales para el diagnóstico de la obesidad y de sus comorbilidades en la edad pediátrica, así como el tratamiento en todas sus vertientes: dietético, ejercicio físico, farmacológico y quirúrgico. : The present article reviews the diagnostic criteria for pediatric obesity and its comorbidities. Treatment is also reviewed, including promotion of physical activity, and dietetic, pharmacologic and surgical treatment.
Robotic transanal total mesorectal excision: Is the future now?
2021
Total mesorectal excision (TME) is the standard surgical treatment for the curative radical resection of rectal cancers. Minimally invasive TME has been gaining ground favored by the continuous technological advancements. New procedures, such as transanal TME (TaTME), have been introduced to overcome some technical limitations, especially in low rectal tumors, obese patients, and/or narrow pelvis. The earliest TaTME reports showed promising results when compared with the conventional laparoscopic TME. However, recent publications raised concerns regarding the high rates of anastomotic leaks or local recurrences observed in national series. Robotic TaTME (R-TaTME) has been proposed as a nove…
Das Onkozytom der Niere
1988
The angiographic findings in ten patients with renal oncocytoma are described. Characteristic features include: absence of encasement, vascular occlusions, arterio-venous shunts and contrast lakes (8/10). Spoke-wheel arrangement of tumor vessels (8/10). Homogeneous tumour contrast during the capillary phase (7/10). Sharp demarcation from the kidney and surroundings (9/10) and a peritumoral halo (4/10). If the suspicion of an oncocytoma is raised by CT examination of a space-occupying lesion (part I), angiography should be performed to confirm the diagnosis and help in planning surgical treatment.
Hroniska pankreatīta ķirurģiskās ārstēšanas rezultāti: sešu gadu pieredze Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas, stacionārā "Gaiļezers"
2022
Ievads.
