Measuring the Economic, Environmental, and Social Sustainability of Short Food Supply Chains
2019
The production and distribution of food are among the hot topics debated in the context of sustainable development. Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are now widely believed to be more sustainable in comparison to mass food delivery systems. To date, very little quantitative evidence exists on the impacts of various types of food supply chains. Using a cross-sectional quantitative approach, this study assesses the sustainability of distribution channels in short and long food supply chains based on 208 food producers across seven countries: France, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. Ten distribution channel types are used in this study. To provide a comprehensiv…
The ecosocial approach in social work as a framework for structural social work
2016
The article aims to deepen the understanding of structural social work from the point of view of the ecosocial framework. It analyses selected current international literature from the debate on the new wave of various interpretations of ecological social work. The debate shares four main themes: (a) a global perspective, (b) a critical view of professional social work, (c) a holistic ecosocial transition of society and (d) environmental and ecological justice. The ecosocial framework challenges structural social work to follow the principles of sustainable development and considers environmental issues as a crucial part of the goals and practical activities of structural social work.

2022
Within recent years, the literature on employee–CSR relations has grown significantly. Based on their key findings, we build a categorization of dominant research findings and their connections. Building on our review, we show how the research has been dominated by a focus on t…
How to Ensure the Development of SMEs in Post-Pandemic Economy? A Start-ups Case Study

This Special Issue includes papers that present new ideas, theories, advancements, experiences, evidence or methodologies that support the convergence of economic, socia…
Exporatory data analysis of environmental governance at local level in the south -west region of Poland
2018
Prowadzenie zintegrowanych działań w ramach zrównoważonego rozwoju wymaga obiektywnego rozpoznania potrzeb ich wdrażania na podstawie wyników kompleksowych analiz wielu złożonych, powiązanych ze sobą czynników odzwierciedlających stan środowiska przyrodniczego i sytuację ekonomiczno-demograficzną. Wzrastająca funkcjonalność Systemów Informacji Geograficznej (GIS) spowodowała, że bazy danych GIS stały się narzędziem wspierającym implementację działań z zakresu zrównoważonego rozwoju. Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas and Sustainable Development - to What Extent Self-Government Activities Support them. A Case Study of Opole Voivodesh…
2020
Entrepreneurship acts as a catalyst for resolving many economic and social issues. It is often seen as the key factor in driving employment rates in rural areas, particularly among young people. It significantly impacts the overall development of the region, including the quality of life. More job opportunities help create employment for a number of people within their own social system. More specifically, it encourages young and well-educated people to stay in village areas which otherwise become increasingly depopulated. This brings us to a problem; to overcome the existing challenges, rural areas must not only drive the development but also ensure its sustainability. Sustainable rural de…
