Endocrine and ovarian response after a 2-day controlled suckling and eCG treatment in lactating rabbit does.

2006

Synchronization methods are used to obtain higher fertility when artificial insemination (AI) is applied to lactating rabbit does. The most common methods are eCG administration or temporary doe–litter separation. Nevertheless, drawbacks have been reported, such as negative side effects of hormonal treatment in the doe and low litter growth due to absence of suckling, respectively. Recently, improved reproductive performance (without visible consequences on young rabbit growth), has been obtained by applying a 2-day controlled nursing method before AI, by allowing for a 10 min nursing of the litter 24 h of separation. The present study was undertaken to examine the pituitary (PRL, LH, FSH) …

Interference Cancellation for LoRa Gateways and Impact on Network Capacity

2021

In this paper we propose LoRaSyNc (LoRa receiver with SyNchronization and Cancellation), a second generation LoRa receiver that implements Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) and time synchronization to improve the performance of LoRa gateways. Indeed, the chirp spread spectrum modulation employed in LoRa experiences very high capture probability, and cancelling the strongest signal in case of collisions can significantly improve the cell capacity. An important feature of LoRaSyNc is the ability to track the frequency and clock drifts between the transmitter and receiver, during the whole demodulation of the interfered frame. Due to the use of low-cost oscillators on end-devices, a s…

Device-Therapie nach akutem Koronarsyndrom

2014

High Degree of Realism in Teaching Percutaneous Coronary Interventions by Combining a Virtual Reality Trainer With a Full Scale Patient Simulator

2008

The virtual reality coronary angiography simulator "CATHI" (Catheter Instruction System, Mannheim, Germany) simulates coronary arteries with implemented vessel lesions in virtual patients. Like similar systems the software model runs on common PC systems, which are linked to the mechanical device for manual training. We combined the advantages of this skill trainer with the near to reality assembly of a cardiac catheterization laboratory (Cath-lab) by connecting it to a full scale simulator (HPS, METI, Sarasota, FL). We present two methods of synchronizing the heartbeat between both simulation devices. Method A-the hardware solution-uses the electrocardiogram-synchronization signal of the H…

Adaptive Collision Avoidance through Implicit Acknowledgments in WSNs

2008

The large number of nodes, typical of many sensor network deployments, and the well-known hidden terminal problem make collision avoidance an essential goal for the actual employment of WSN technology. Collision avoidance is traditionally dealt with at the MAC Layer and plenty of different solutions have been proposed, which however have encountered limited diffusion because of their incompatibility with commonly available devices. In this paper we propose an approach to collision avoidance which is designed to work over a standard MAC Layer, namely the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC, and is based on application-controlled delays of packet transmission times. The proposed scheme is simple, decentralized …

High resolution analysis and differential condensation in RBA-banded human chromosomes.

1981

Human prophase, premetaphase, and mid-metaphase chromosomes are prepared and analyzed using the thymidine cell synchronization technique and R-banding patterns (RBA). Haploid sets with 700–1000 bands can be demonstrated. Sequences of chromosomes of different degrees of condensation are helpful for a better understanding and classification of regions of extended chromosomes. A considerable variation in the condensation of parts of homologous chromosomes is reflected in the variability of the arm ratio. This differential condensation of chromosomes is entirely effected by variation of the degree of condensation in AT rich interbands and can be attributed to the degree of labeling by BrdU.

The ATLAS detector control system

2012

The ATLAS experiment is one of the multi-purpose experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, constructed to study elementary particle interactions in collisions of high-energy proton beams. Twelve different sub detectors as well as the common experimental infrastructure are controlled and monitored by the Detector Control System (DCS) using a highly distributed system of 140 server machines running the industrial SCADA product PVSS. Higher level control system layers allow for automatic control procedures, efficient error recognition and handling, manage the communication with external systems such as the LHC controls, and provide a synchronization mechanism with the ATLAS data …

Post-Double Hopf Bifurcation Dynamics and Adaptive Synchronization of a Hyperchaotic System

2012

In this paper a four-dimensional hyperchaotic system with only one equilibrium is considered and its double Hopf bifurcations are investigated. The general post-bifurcation and stability analysis are carried out using the normal form of the system obtained via the method of multiple scales. The dynamics of the orbits predicted through the normal form comprises possible regimes of periodic solutions, two-period tori, and three-period tori in parameter space. Moreover, we show how the hyperchaotic synchronization of this system can be realized via an adaptive control scheme. Numerical simulations are included to show the effectiveness of the designed control.

Time synchronization enhancements in wireless networks with ultra wide band communications

2022

The emergence of low cost Ultra Wide Band (UWB) transceivers has enabled the implementation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) based on this communication technology. These networks are composed of distributed autonomous low cost nodes (also known as motes) with their own processing unit, memory and communications. Usually these nodes are power-limited and due to the poor performance and quality of their clocks, time synchronization is in the order of milliseconds and in some specific scenarios till microseconds. The integration of commercial UWB transceivers in these nodes can improve the synchronization accuracy. In particular, we focus on WSN nodes based on off-the-shelf commercial produc…

Effects of post-filtering in grid-synchronization algorithms under grid faults

2018

Abstract The spread of distributed generation systems has reinforced concerns and requirements on grid-tied power converters. The synchronization with the utility voltage vector is a major concern. In the literature, algorithms based on Phase Locked Loops are extensively presented. In spite of adequate performances under ideal and balanced grid conditions, under grid faults great inaccuracies arise. Shortcomings are overcome by advanced algorithms at the expenses of the complexity and computational cost. In this paper, grid synchronization algorithms are addressed. A solution is proposed by introducing a new post-filter stage in a Decoupled Double Synchronous Reference Frame not affecting, …
