Biosystems Engineering curricula in Europe
2013
This paper describes the history of the harmonisation of agricultural/biosystems engineering degree study programs in Europe from 1989, when the need for this process was widely felt, until now, when this need was partly satisfied through the implementation of the projects of two EU funded thematic networks, i.e., USAEE-TN and ERABEE-TN. The objective of this paper is to contribute to promote, in each EU country and elsewhere, the process of harmonisation of agricultural/biosystems engineering degree study programs, and student and graduate mobility within the EU, as well as between the EU and the USA. At present, in Europe, this harmonisation process is aided by the key results of the proj…
Heat capacity and thermal conductivity of multiferroics Bi1-xPrxFeO3
2019
The heat capacity and thermal conductivity of multiferroics Bi1–xPrxFeO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.50) has been studied in the temperature range of 130–800 K. A slight substitution of praseodymium for bismuth is found to lead to a noticeable shift of the antiferromagnetic phase transition temperature whilst the heat capacity increases. The temperature dependences of the heat capacity and thermal conductivity exhibit additional anomalies during phase transitions. The experimental results suggest that the excess heat capacity can be attributed to the Schottky effect for three-level states. The basic mechanisms of the heat transfer of phonons are highlighted and the dependence of the mean free path on temper…
Fuzzy sliding mode control design for a class of disturbed systems
2014
This paper discusses the problem of the fuzzy sliding mode control for a class of disturbed systems. First, a fuzzy auxiliary controller is constructed based on a feedback signal not only to estimate the unknown control term, but also participates in the sliding mode control due to the fuzzy rule employed. Then, we extend our theory into the cases, where some kind of system information can not be obtained, for better use of our theoretical results in real engineering. Finally, some typical numerical examples are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantage of the designed sliding mode controller. Refereed/Peer-reviewed

A Cognitive Architecture for Robotic Hand Posture Learning
2005
This paper deals with the design and implementation of a visual control of a robotic system composed of a dexterous hand and video camera. The aim of the proposed system is to reproduce the movements of a human hand in order to learn complex manipulation tasks or to interact with the user. A novel algorithm for robust and fast fingertips localization and tracking is presented. A suitable kinematic hand model is adopted to achieve a fast and acceptable solution to an inverse kinematics problem. The system is part of a cognitive architecture for posture learning that integrates the perceptions by a high-level representation of the scene and of the observed actions. The anthropomorphic robotic…
Information Systems Architecture and Technology: Proceedings of 38th International Conference on Information Systems Architecture and Technology – IS…
2018
This three-volume set of books presents advances in the development of concepts and techniques in the area of new technologies and contemporary information system architectures. It guides readers through solving specific research and analytical problems to obtain useful knowledge and business value from the data. Each chapter provides an analysis of a specific technical problem, followed by the numerical analysis, simulation and implementation of the solution to the problem. The books constitute the refereed proceedings of the 2017 38th International Conference “Information Systems Architecture and Technology,” or ISAT 2017, held on September 17–19, 2017 in Szklarska Poręba, Poland. The con…
Feedback Linearizing Control of Induction Motor Considering Magnetic Saturation Effects
2015
This paper presents an input-output feedback linearization (FL) control technique for rotating induction motors, which takes into consideration the magnetic saturation of the iron core. Starting from a new formulation of the dynamic model taking into consideration the magnetic saturation expressed in a space-state form in the rotor-flux-oriented reference frame, the corresponding FL technique has been developed. To this aim, a particular care has been given to the choice of nonlinear functions interpolating the magnetic parameters versus the rotor magnetizing current and the corresponding magnetic characteristic. The proposed FL technique has been tested experimentally on a suitably develop…
Distribution and generation of traps in SiO2/Al2O3 gate stacks
2007
In this work we combine charge-pumping measurements with positive constant voltage stress to investigate trap generation in SiO2/ Al2O3 n-MOSFET. Trap density has been scanned either in energy or in position based on charge-pumping (CP) measurements performed under different operating conditions in terms of amplitude and frequency of the gate pulse. Our results have revealed that the traps are meanly localized shallow in energy level, deeper in spatial position and they are mostly generated near the Si/SiO2 interface. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Design and Realization of a Bidirectional Full Bridge Converter with Improved Modulation Strategies
2020
In this paper a Full-Bridge Converter (FBC) for bidirectional power transfer is presented. The proposed FBC is an isolated DC-DC bidirectional converter, connected to a double voltage source&mdash
Systemic Management of Architectural Decisions in Enterprise Architecture Planning. Four Dimensions and Three Abstraction Levels
2006
This paper presents a process model for the management of architectural decisions in enterprise architecture planning. First, decisions are made at the enterprise level, with strategic business considerations on the enterprise information, systems and technology strategy and governance issues. The next step is to define the domains, to then go on with domain architecture decisions. At the systems level, the enterprise and domain architecture decisions are collected and converted into architecture descriptions accurate in precision, form and detail to be given as input to the information systems development process, following the architectural planning. The model is derived from previous wor…
