The article tries to highlight, despite the scarse of available documentation, the Greek and Latin studies (language and texts) in the ancient Apulian University in Altamura (1748-1821). Furthermore, on the basis of unpublished archival materials (school registers and student workbooks) it is possible to shed light on the ancient authors explained at school, the teaching methods, and the study practices.
An Alternative Paradigm to Evaluate the Acquisition of the van Hiele Levels

This article presents an alternative way of analyzing the van Hiele level of students’ geometrical reasoning. We evaluate the students’ answers, taking into account the van Hiele level they reflect and their mathematical accuracy. This gives us a description of how accomplished the students are in applying the procedures associated with each of the van Hiele levels and allows us to determine the students’ degree of acquisition of the van Hiele levels. This research presents the force that manifests the mental lexicon in teaching vocabulary in French as a foreign language. This experimental action research was developed with the experimental French group II EG from the program of modern languages at the University of Quindio in Armenia City, in Colombia. Abstract According to previous studies, inquiry-based mathematics teaching enhances learning. However, teachers need support in implementing this type of teaching. In this study, a high school teacher was given a short preplanned inquiry-based mathematics teaching unit that included activities with GeoGebra.
