Genetic variation in the primary sex ratio in populations of the intertidal copepod, Tigriopus californicus, is widespread on Vancouver Island.
2011
Hypothesis: Genetic variation for the primary sex ratio is widespread in a copepodwith polygenic sex determination. Cytoplasmic sex ratio distorters (e.g. Wolbachia andmicrosporidians) influence the primary sex ratio in this copepod. Organism: The intertidal copepod, Tigriopus californicus; six populations from VancouverIsland, British Columbia. Study site: Quantitative genetics experiment in the laboratory. PCR and antibioticsexperiment to test for the presence of cytoplasmic sex ratio distorters. Results: Genetic variation for the primary sex ratio was found in five of the six populationssurveyed. The primary sex ratio was paternally transmitted. There was no evidence thatWolbachia or mic…

2008
This paper deals with the rather general and direct link that it would be tempting to envisage between motivation at work and performance. For example, multidimensional evaluations of motivation (IMTB) and job satisfaction (JDI) were related to a dichotomous variable of performance (objectives attained vs. not attained of 30 sales representatives of a bank). The differences observed only concerned the degree of demotivation of the employees known for not having reached their objectives (but without having affected their motivation in itself). Moreover, they appear less satisfied regarding the promotion system and more satisfied by their relations with their co-workers. The results are discu…
π-Electron delocalization in 2-benzoyl-5-phenylpyrazolidin-3-one
2018
Abstract The crystal and molecular structures of 2-benzoyl-5-phenylpyrazolidin-3-one have been characterized by X-ray diffraction along with density functional theory studies. Cinnamic acid chloride was reacted with benzhydrazide, yielding 2-benzoyl-5-phenylpyrazolidin-3-one. This product was formed in the transformation comprising the nucleophilic addition of benzhydrazide to the styryl fragment of the α,β-unsaturated arrangement and subsequent cyclization. The molecule contains two benzene rings and one five-membered heterocyclic ring with an N–N single bond. The five-membered ring is composed of three atoms of sp 3 hybridization and two atoms of sp 2 hybridization, which cause the flatte…
Sport commitment and adherence: A social-cognitive analysis. (Compromiso deportivo y adherencia: Un análisis cognitivo social).
2011
Abstract Statement of problem: This study aimed to analyse the ability of a model based on achievement motivation and self-determination theories to predict adherence to competitive sport. This model incorporated commitment as predictor of adherence. A prospective study was performed with a sample of 302 handball players aged between 14 and 18 years. Structural equation modelling gave support to the model proposed. It was verified the sequence of relationships between perceptions of coach-created mastery climate, psychological needs, self-determined motivation, commitment, and adherence. The major contribution of the study was to confirm a motivational model of adherence based on social-cog…

OZNACZANIE ZWIĄZKÓW FOSFORU W MATRYCACH ROŚLINNYCH
2021
The variety of the chemical forms of phosphorus compounds occurring in plant tissues, accompanied by the complexity of the chemical composition of plants as the analytical matrices, are the reasons why there is no one, the best answer, how those individual substances may be determined qualitatively and quantitatively. Interestingly, if the subject of determination is the total phosphorus content, the spectrum of effective methods and techniques seems to be impressive. However, in case of spectrophotometric measurements and classical variants of absorption (FAAS) or emission (ICP-AES/ ICP-OES) spectrometry techniques, it is necessary at first to isolate various phosphorus forms from the matr…
Primary culture of single ectodermal precursors of Drosophila reveals a dorsoventral prepattern of intrinsic neurogenic and epidermogenic capabilitie…
1992
ABSTRACT We have analyzed the development in vitro of individual precursor cells from the presumptive truncal segmental ectoderm of the Drosophila embryo to study the intrinsic component in the determination of cell fate. For each cultured cell, the original position within as well as the developmental stage of the donor embryo were known. Cells removed from the ventral neurogenic region develop neural clones. Cells from the dorsal ectoderm and from the dorsalmost part of the ventral neurogenic ectoderm develop epidermal clones. These two classes of clones differ with respect to their division pattern, adhesiveness, cell morphologies and the expression of cell-specific markers. Mixed neural…
