Thanks to 2,115 passive structures c…

Triclinic conformational polymorph of N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(2-cyanoethyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine (TCED)
2018
Abstract The crystal and molecular structures of two polymorphs of N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(2-cyanoethyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine have been characterized by X-ray diffraction along with density functional theory (DFT) studies. The molecules differ from each other by conformation. N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(2-cyanoethyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine has been synthesized by cyanoethylation of ethylenediamine. Cyanoethylation of vicinal diamines is important for the synthesis of hyperbranched polymeric materials applied as catalysts, surfactants and encapsulating agents in drug delivery systems. The molecular geometry of N,N,N′,N′-tetracyanoethyl-1,2-ethylenediamine is similar to that of homologous compounds. DFT calcul…
Investigating REPAIRv2 as a Tool to Edit CFTR mRNA with Premature Stop Codons
2020
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by mutations in the gene encoding the transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein. Some CF patients are compound heterozygous or homozygous for nonsense mutations in the CFTR gene. This implies the presence in the transcript of premature termination codons (PTCs) responsible for a truncated CFTR protein and a more severe form of the disease. Aminoglycoside and PTC124 derivatives have been used for the read-through of PTCs to restore the full-length CFTR protein. However, in a precision medicine framework, the CRISPR/dCas13b-based molecular tool &ldquo
2013
This work aimed to demonstrate that termination’s retroactive effect, under the Italian system, no longer allows to consider the contract as a source of performance rights. Therefore, the contract should only be contemplated historically as a failed transaction, or rather, as a damage for the aggrieved party. Thus, such a party should be entitled to recover reliance damages, such as wasted expenditures and loss of chance, and not performance damages, i.e. the value of the performance of the contract. This study constituted a double challenge, as, first, the prevalent idea, under the Italian system, is that after termination for breach of contract the party aggrieved has the right to perform…
Bioactive alkaloids of hallucinogenic mushrooms
2015
The aim of our chapter is to review recent developments in a group of medicinally important natural products–alkaloids, with reference to the structure–activity studies in respect of certain diseases. Alkaloids covered by our review come from mushrooms called “hallucinogenic.” Hallucinogenic compounds have been chemically identified in mushrooms belonging to various genera, e.g., Agrocybe, Amanita, Conocybe, Galerina, Gymnopilus, Hypholoma, Inocybe, Panaeolus, Psilocybe, Pholiotina, Pluteus, and Weraroa [J.W. Allen, Ethnomycol. J. Sacred Mushroom Stud. 9 (2012) 130–175]. One of the largest classes of alkaloids is indole alkaloids. Indoles are probably the most widely distributed heterocycli…

2016
The right of the Palestinian people to liberate themselves from foreign occupation in the name of the principle of self-determination has played, and is playing today, a central role in the resolution of the Arab-Israeli problem, representing a real catalyst principle in a process which, unfortunately, remains unfinished. The question today revolves around the fulfilment of an obligation to negotiate conventionally accepted by the parties, considered without alternative by the international community, but which in practice translates into a right of veto over the exercise of self-determination, contradicting the inalienable nature of this principle. Self-determination thus becomes negotiabl…
