ETL procesu risinājumi lielo datu gadījumos

Lielo datu milzīgais apjoms un tā straujais pieaugums liek meklēt jaunas un attīstīt esošās tehnoloģijas datu apstrādē, jo tradicionālie ETL jeb datu izgūšanas, transformācijas un ielādes rīki nespēj apstrādāt tādu apjomu. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt ETL procesu galvenās iezīmes un pieejamos risinājumus lielo datu apstrādē. Rezultātā tika aplūkoti galvenie izaicinājumi un sarežģījumi lielo datu apstrādē un apskatīti risinājumi ETL procesu veikšanai liela apjoma datiem. Darba izstrādes laikā tika veikta lietojuma gadījuma realizācija, lai novērtētu tradicionālā ETL rīka Pentaho Kettle iespējas un piemērotību liela apjoma datu apstrādei.
From arsenic to DDT: Pesticides, Fascism and the invisibility of toxic risks in the early years of Francoist Spain (1939-1953)

This paper reviews the way in which Spanish agriculture climbed onto the pesticide treadmill. We claim that Fascist policies and expert advice assembled in the early 1940s accelerated the introduction of pesticides into Spanish agriculture and promoted the emergence of the Spanish pesticide industry in the times of autarky. Agricultural engineers were the key protagonists in this process, but other human and non-human actors also played a pivotal role: a new pest (the Colorado beetle), Francoist politicians, farmers, landowners and industry managers. Genomic inbreeding estimation in small populations: evaluation of runs of homozygosity in local cattle breeds

The availability of high throughput genotyping has facilitated the quantification of inbreeding by genomic markers in farm animals. Run of homozygosity (ROH) are contiguous lengths of homozygous genotypes and represent an estimate of the degree of autozygosity at genome-wide level. The current study aims to quantify the genomic inbreeding derived from ROH (FROH) in three Italian local cattle breeds. Individuals of Cinisara (71), Modicana (72), Reggiana (168) were genotyped with the 50K v2 Illumina BeadChip. Mediterranean marine biodiversity is under threat by pollution. For this reason, the main objective of this thesis was to analyse the presence of pollutants of concern in Mediterranean marine species. These studies are located in the Valencian Community (Spain), where we find loggerhead turtles, striped dolphins, and jewel lanternfish. Hence, we: 1. Abstract During 2001–2005, Mount Etna was characterized by intense eruptive activity involving the emission of petrologically different products from several vents, which involved at least two types of magma with different degrees of evolution. We investigated the ratios and abundances for noble-gas isotopes in fluid inclusions trapped in olivines and pyroxenes in the erupted products. We confirm that olivine has the most efficient crystalline structure for preserving the pristine composition of entrapped gases, while pyroxene can suffer diffusive He loss. In this work, a method for the separation of triacylglycerols (TAGs) present in human milk and from other mammalian species by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography using a core–shell particle packed column with UV and evaporative light-scattering detectors is described. Under optimal conditions, a mobile phase containing acetonitrile/n-pentanol at 10 °C gave an excellent resolution among more than 50 TAG peaks. A small-scale method for fat extraction in these milks (particularly of interest for human milk samples) using minimal amounts of sample and reagents was also developed. The study uses power relations theory to investigate existence of perceived retaliation against internal whistleblowers in Sub-Saharan Africa using evidence from employees in public institutions of Kenya. Focus was on the way perceived retaliation is related to seriousness of wrongdoing, whistleblower psychological power and management support to whistleblowers. The research design was quantitative, exploratory and analytical using cross-sectional data. Tutkielmani tarkoitus on osoittaa, mitkä ovat My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV-sarjan visuaaliset vaikutteet ja viittaukset japanilaiseen populaarikulttuuriin. Tutkimusmenetelmänä hyödynsin intertekstuaalisuutta, kun vertasin ponisarjan visuaalista materiaalia japanilaiseen kuvastoon. Tutkimuksessani vertasin ponisarjan visuaalista kuvastoa anime- ja mangatyyleihin ja viittauksiin japanilaiseen populaarimediaan. Tutkimukseni tukena hyödynsin ponisarjan tekijöitten haastatteluja kuin myös fanien reaktioita ja huomioita sarjasta.
