Depresijas simptomu novērtējums klīniskā un neklīniskā izlasē
2021
Analysis of a database to predict the result of allergy testing in vivo in patients with chronic nasal symptoms.
2014
Background This article uses the logistic regression model for diagnostic decision making in patients with chronic nasal symptoms. We studied the ability of the logistic regression model, obtained by the evaluation of a database, to detect patients with positive allergy skin-prick test (SPT) and patients with negative SPT. The model developed was validated using the data set obtained from another medical institution. Methods The analysis was performed using a database obtained from a questionnaire administered to the patients with nasal symptoms containing personal data, clinical data, and results of allergy testing (SPT). All variables found to be significantly different between patients w…
Pd2Au36(SR)(24) cluster: structure studies
2015
The location of the Pd atoms in Pd2Au36(SC2H4Ph)(24), is studied both experimentally and theoretically. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicates oxidized Pd atoms. Palladium K-edge extended X-ray absorption fine-structure (EXAFS) data clearly show Pd-S bonds, which is supported by far infrared spectroscopy and by comparing theoretical EXAFS spectra in R space and circular dichroism spectra of the staple, surface and core doped structures with experimental spectra.
Spectroscopy of short-lived radioactive molecules
2020
Molecular spectroscopy offers opportunities for the exploration of the fundamental laws of nature and the search for new particle physics beyond the standard model1–4. Radioactive molecules—in which one or more of the atoms possesses a radioactive nucleus—can contain heavy and deformed nuclei, offering high sensitivity for investigating parity- and time-reversal-violation effects5,6. Radium monofluoride, RaF, is of particular interest because it is predicted to have an electronic structure appropriate for laser cooling6, thus paving the way for its use in high-precision spectroscopic studies. Furthermore, the effects of symmetry-violating nuclear moments are strongly enhanced5,7–9 in molecu…
Parent–Infant Attachment Insecurity and Emotional Eating in Adolescence: Mediation through Emotion Suppression and Alexithymia
2021
Contains fulltext : 233652.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Emotional eating (EE), the propensity to eat in response to emotions, is thought to have its origins in the early parent-infant relationship. This study tested the hypothesis that infant attachment insecurity results in EE in adolescence through the increased use of the emotion regulation strategy suppression of emotions and subsequent alexithymia. At the age of 15 months, parent-infant attachment security (n = 129) was observed with two abbreviated attachment measures: the shortened strange situation procedure (SSSP), and the shortened attachment Q-set (S-AQS). At the age of 12 years, children completed self-report questio…
Vidusskolēnu iesaistes skolā un depresijas pazīmju saistība
2017
BIOLOGICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF TRANSDIAGNOSTIC AND SPECIFIC SYMPTOM DIMENSIONS AT PSYCHOSIS ONSET: FINDINGS FROM THE EUGEI STUDY
2018
Background Current diagnostic models of psychosis have been questioned since Kraepelin’s original dichotomy of dementia praecox and manic depression. Indeed, increasing evidence has suggested that a dimensional approach might be a valid alternative platform for research. However, while an increasing number of studies have investigated how environmental risk factors for affective and non-affective psychosis map onto symptom dimensions, only a few have examined these dimensions in relation to genetic variants as summarised by Polygenic Risk Score (PRS). Furthermore, no studies have examined the putative effect of PRS for Schizophrenia (SZ), Bipolar Disorder (BP), and Major Depressive Disorder…
Tensor tympani muscle: strange chewing muscle
2007
This work seeks to alert medical and odontological staff to understanding and using interdisciplinary handling for detecting different pathologies’ common otic symptoms. It offers better tools for this shared symptomatology during therapy’s conservative phase. Tensor tympani muscle physiology and function in the middle ear have been veiled, even when their dysfunction and anatomical relationships may explain a group of confused otic symptoms during conventional clinical evaluation. Middle ear muscles share a common embryological and functional origin with chewing and facial muscles. This article emphasizes that these muscles share a functional neurological and anatomical dimension with the …
Los efectos de las asimetrías de género en la salud de las mujeres
2003
This study analyses the effects on health of the asymmetry of power relations between the sexes and, specifically, how life conditions have a bearing on personal well-being. Subjective discomfort usually manifests itself by means of symptoms. Epidemiological studies show a higher physical and mental morbidity in women. A critica1 review of previous studies highlights the connections between symptoms and gender role and shows the existence of bias in the theoretical models and clinical practices. The implementation of health policies which take into account this bias - which consists in extrapolating the results obtained in exclusively male samples to the design of diagnostic methods, treatm…
Rehearsing to control depressive symptoms through a behavior change support system
2013
Depressive symptoms are generally coupled with distress and high treatment costs. We present our on-going research on a Web-based behavior change support system, which utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as a rehearsal tool. We present a summarized account of the research setting, studied persuasive software features, and a brief account of initial data analysis. Our work presents implications on design interventions for mental well-being and human-computer interaction.
