The Digitalisation of Political Parties in Comparative Perspective
2021
This chapter outlines the main findings of the edited book. Through the study of a wide range of political parties from Europe and beyond, this book has explored the different degrees of digitalisation that political parties present, and, at the same time, discussed the main technological, democratic issues and trade-offs that political parties have faced in their digital transition. The most relevant finding is that all political parties operating in the democracies analysed have digitalised their organisations to some extent. Our main finding across several cases shows that the digitalisation of parties does not entail a homogenous process of convergence towards a new mode of managing par…
Soil mutagens are airborne mutagens: variation of mutagenic activities induced in Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 and TA 100 by organic extracts of agri…
2000
As our hypothesis was that soil mutagens are airborne mutagens, possibly modified by soil microorganisms, we checked solvent extracts from agricultural and forest soils collected during late summer in the environment of Mainz, a region highly charged by anthropogenic air pollution, or near Bayreuth, a rural low charged region of Germany, or in a remote region of western Corsica without anthropogenic air pollution for the presence of mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium. Levels of mutagenic activities were quantified by calculation of revertants/g from the initial slope of dose-response curves applying tester strains S. typhimurium TA 98 and TA 100 in the absence and presence of an activat…
Wave Energy Assessment and Performance evaluation in Mediterranean Sea
2020
The paper proposes a revolutionary device for the utilization of a new entry of renewable energy sources: sea wave. This technology is based on linear generators, able to converts directly a linear motion into electrical output, limiting to minimum the chain of energy conversion. A preliminary feasibility assessment considers a case study applied in Lampedusa, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. Economic and environmental evaluations are here reported.
Biodegradable tablets having a matrix of low molecular weight poly-L-lactic acid and poly-D,L-lactic acid.
1990
Biodegradable Homo- and Copolymers of lactic and glycolic acids have been used for manufacture of microparticles and matrix implants1,5). To ensure sufficient hydrolytic matrix stability lactic acids of high and medium degree of polymerization have been used. The manufacture of poly lactic acid tablets with an average molecular weight of 25000 and 6000 was reported recently, after finishing the following study2). Bioabbaubare Gerusttabletten aus niedermolekularer poly-L-Milchsaure und poly-D,L-Milchsaure
Statistical Analysis of a Method to Predict Drug–Polymer Miscibility
2015
In this study, a method proposed to predict drug-polymer miscibility from differential scanning calorimetry measurements was subjected to statistical analysis. The method is relatively fast and inexpensive and has gained popularity as a result of the increasing interest in the formulation of drugs as amorphous solid dispersions. However, it does not include a standard statistical assessment of the experimental uncertainty by means of a confidence interval. In addition, it applies a routine mathematical operation known as "transformation to linearity," which previously has been shown to be subject to a substantial bias. The statistical analysis performed in this present study revealed that t…
Uniform estimates for the X-ray transform restricted to polynomial curves
2012
We establish near-optimal mixed-norm estimates for the X-ray transform restricted to polynomial curves with a weight that is a power of the affine arclength. The bounds that we establish depend only on the spatial dimension and the degree of the polynomial. Some of our results are new even in the well-curved case.
Reference-point-independent dynamics of molecular liquids and glasses in the tensorial formalism.
2002
We apply the tensorial formalism to the dynamics of molecular liquids and glasses. This formalism separates the degrees of freedom into translational and orientational ones. Using the Mori-Zwanzig projection formalism, the equations of motion for the tensorial density correlators S(lmn,l'm'n')(q-->,t) are derived. For this we show how to choose the slow variables such that the resulting Mori-Zwanzig equations are covariant under a change of the reference point of the body fixed frame. We also prove that the memory kernels obtained from mode-coupling theory (MCT) including all approximations preserve the covariance. This covariance makes, e.g., the glass transition point, the two universal s…
RUANG BERUBAH BERSAMA-SAMA: ANTROPOLOGI DALAM TRANSFORMASI SOSIAL BUDAYA PAPUA
2018
Abstra k The biggest challenge of anthropology, especially in frontier areas (front lines) like in Papua, is to place it in the context of the vortex of the meaning of socio-cultural transformation experienced by humans themselves. Anthropology, thus becoming a "weapon" in the face of the inevitable social and cultural changes. This article reflects the power of ethnography in the long span of the journey of reproducing Papuan cultural knowledge. This study argues that ethnographic reproduction produced with a colonialistic perspective will lack power and language in describing the complexity and transformation of culture in the Land of Papua. The reality of the Papuan people is high mobili…
Zeros of {-1,0,1}-power series and connectedness loci for self-affine sets
2006
We consider the set W of double zeros in (0,1) for power series with coefficients in {-1,0,1}. We prove that W is disconnected, and estimate the minimum of W with high accuracy. We also show that [2^(-1/2)-e,1) is contained in W for some small, but explicit e>0 (this was only known for e=0). These results have applications in the study of infinite Bernoulli convolutions and connectedness properties of self-affine fractals.
Investigations on the Mechanism of Induction of the Alkaline Phosphatase by Bromodesoxyuridine in Herpes simplex Virus Transformed Cells and the Tran…
1980
Addition of BrdUrd in combination with prednisolone to HSVi-transformed hamster embryo cells induces an alkaline phosphatase (AP). FdUrd enhances, dThd reduces the inducing capacity of BrdUrd and prednisolone. Induction is prevented by addition of cycloheximide or of cytosine arabinoside. BrdUrd reduces transport and phosphorylation of exogenously applied labeled Urd, especially the amount of UTP, UDP and Urd-diphosphate sugars. The Lineweaver-Burk-plot of uridine-uptake after addition of BrdUrd reveales the characteristics of the mixed type inhibition (competitive-noncompetitive).
