Variability of the Level of Development of Functopnal Urban Areas

2018

Miejskie obszary funkcjonalne mają istotne znaczenie w realizacji zarówno Krajowej Polityki Miejskiej 2023, jak i terytorialnej polityki rozwoju. Celem badania jest określenie poziomu rozwoju obszarów funkcjonalnych miast wojewódzkich Polski. Badania przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem metody taksonomicznej w ujęciu dynamicznym obejmującym okres 2005-2015. Podstawę wyznaczenia wielkości taksonomicznych stanowił zestaw wskaźników diagnostycznych ujętych w trzech wymiarach rozwoju: społecznym, gospodarczym i środowiskowym.

2007

This article reviews nearly four decades of change in the microtechnical industry of Franche-Comté. The case of the reconversion of French clockmakers, industrial districts in real crisis and territorial development around microtechnical industries, sheds invaluable light on the difficulties of restructuring an industry, despite the pressure of voluntary politics.

Influence of the U3O7 domain structure on cracking during the oxidation of UO2

2010

Abstract Cracking is observed when a UO 2 single crystal is oxidised in air. Previous studies led to the hypothesis that cracking occurs once a critical depth of U 3 O 7 oxidised layer is reached. We present some μ-Laue X-ray diffraction results, which evidence that the U 3 O 7 layer, grown by topotaxy on UO 2 , is made of domains with different crystalline orientations. This observation was used to perform a modelling of oxidation coupling chemical and mechanical parameters, which showed that the domain patterning induces stress localisation. This result is discussed in comparison with stress localisation observed in thin layer deposited on a substrate and used to propose an interpretation…

We have recently demonstrated that the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) shared epitope (SE) acts as a ligand that triggers nitric oxide (NO) signaling in opposite cells. Given the known pro-oxidative effect of NO and the proposed role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of RA, this study explores whether SE-triggered signaling can increase cellular oxidative stress. cAMP levels, adenylyl cyclase activity, and protein kinase A activity were measured using commercial kits. Generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was quantified using the fluorochrome dichlorofluorescein diacetate. Oxidative DNA damage was quantified using the single-cell electrophoresis technique. Here, we report that cells e…

Interaction between 24-hydroxycholesterol, oxidative stress, and amyloid-β in amplifying neuronal damage in Alzheimer’s disease: three partners in cr…

2011

All three cholesterol oxidation products implicated thus far in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, 7β-hydroxycholesterol, 24-hydroxycholesterol, and 27-hydroxycholesterol, markedly enhance the binding of amyloid-beta (Aβ) to human differentiated neuronal cell lines (SK-N-BE and NT-2) by up-regulating net expression and synthesis of CD36 and β1-integrin receptors. However, only 24-hydroxycholesterol markedly potentiates the pro-apoptotic and pro-necrogenic effects of Aβ(1-42) peptide on these cells: 7β-hydroxycholesterol and 27-hydroxycholesterol, like unoxidized cholesterol, show no potentiating effect. This peculiar behavior of 24-hydroxycholesterol at physiologic concentrations (1 μ…

Ability of Kocuria varians LTH 1540 To Degrade Putrescine: Identification and Characterization of a Novel Amine Oxidase.

2015

This work describes the identification and characterization of an amine oxidase from Kocuria varians LTH 1540 (syn. Micrococcus varians) primarily acting on putrescine. Data from MALDI-TOF MS/MS and the identification of Δ(1)-pyrroline as degradation product from putrescine indicate that the enzyme is a flavin-dependent putrescine oxidase (PuO). Properties of partially purified enzyme have been determined. The enzyme oxidizes diamines, putrescine and cadaverine, and, to a lesser extent, polyamines, such as spermidine, but not monoamines. The kinetic constants (Km and Vmax) for the two major substrates were 94 ± 10 μM and 2.3 ± 0.1 μmol/min·mg for putrescine and 75 ± 5 μM and 0.15 ± 0.02 μmo…
