One-pot synthesis of fluorinated 2-amino-pyrimidine-N-oxides. Competing pathways in the four-atom side-chain rearrangements of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles

Abstract Trifluoromethylated 2-amino-pyrimidine N-oxides have been synthesized by reaction of the 3-amino-5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole with trifluoromethyl-β-diketones in the presence of perchloric acid, followed by hydrolysis. In this ring-to-ring transformation an initial formation of (unisolated) 1,2,4-oxadiazole-pyrimidinium salts, and subsequent ring-opening at the oxadiazole moiety occurs. Isolation of 2-(hydroxyamino)-pyrimidine from the reaction mixture evidenced the presence of a competing pathway where the N(4) nitrogen of the oxadiazole is involved in the formation of a regioisomeric pyrimidinium salt. The effect of the trifluoromethyl group on the product distribution is discussed.…

Summary The cytoplasmic constituents of the unfertilized eggs of Ciona intestinalis were separated by centrifugation and studied at the electron microscope, with the following results. Lipid droplets collect at the centripetal pole; they are boundered by a thin membrane. The yolk granules are homogeneous in appearance; a few have a granular structure. Mitochondria contain numerous cristae; they accumulate in two different layers centripetally and centrifugally to the yolk granules layer respectively. Variations of composition and consistency of the culture medium and time of exposure to growth regulators were assayed to optimize normal caulogenic response ofDigitalis obscura hypocotyls cultured in vitro. The effects of the culture conditions on physiologic changes related to vitrification of the regenerated plants were also investigated. Liquid medium increased the bud-forming capacity of the explants but induced buds failed to develop into shoots and showed symptoms of vitrification. On agar-solidified media, maximum multiplication rates were achieved with 0.7% agar. Increasing agar concentration reduced vitrification but lowered the propagation rate. Baltais āboliņš (Trifolium repens L.) ir tauriņziežu dzimtas augs, plaši izplatīts gan pilsētvidē, gan ārpus tās. Tas tiek izmantots kā lauksaimniecības augs biomasas iegūšanai, un tā ir arī populāra daudzgadīgos zālienus veidojošā suga - pilsētvidē balto āboliņu sēj zālājos. Baltais āboliņš plaši pārstāvēts dažādos biotopos ar mainīgu ārējo faktoru ietekmi, tai skaitā pilsētvidē. Tādēļ tas ir piemērots modeļobjekts antropogēnās ietekmes pētīšanai. Lielākā daļa ekoloģisko pētījumu ir veikti brīvā dabā, bet tai pat laikā ir maz pētījumu par starpsugu konkurenci un to mijiedarbību kontrolētos veģetācijas eksperimentos, lai gan ir iemesls uzskatīt, ka kopkultivācija var ietekmēt augu atbildes reakciju pret biotiskiem un abiotiskiem faktoriem. Eksperimentam izvēlējās Latvijā bieži sastopamo ložņu āboliņu un reti sastopamo, īpaši aizsargājamo zemeņu āboliņu, kuru sēklas ievāca mitrā pļavā Liepājas ezera krastā. AlTf-UVM-7—Highly active catalysts for the synthesis of long chain symmetrical ethers and non-ionic surfactant structures

New Lewis acid AlTf-UVM-7 catalysts with bimodal pore system and different Si to Al ratios were prepared in a two-step synthesis in which triflic acid (Tf) was incorporated into previously synthesized mesoporous aluminum-containing silica. The Al incorporation inside the pore walls was carried out through the Atrane method. The characterization of the resulted catalysts showed that the triflic acid treatment step did not damage the texture or the structure of the catalysts.
