Background and Purpose: Microglia play important role in poststroke depression (PSD), however, the exact mechanism was still unclear. The purpose of the study was to study the mechanism of microglial activation in PSD.Methods: 24 rats were randomly divided into three groups: the PSD group (n = 10), the poststroke (PS) group (n = 7), and the sham group (n = 7). Primary hippocampal microglia were isolated and cultured, and recombined LCN2 protein was used to stimulate the cultured microglia. The protein expression of Iba1, P38 MAPK and PP38 MAPK was analyzed by western blotting; the LCN2 expression was measured by RT-qPCR, the serum LCN2 level and the NO level were analyzed by ELISA.Results: …

Student academic underachievement is a concern of paramount importance in Europe, where around 15% of the students in the last high school courses do not achieve the minimum knowledge academic requirement. In this paper, we propose a model based on a system of differential equations to study the dynamics of the students academic performance in the German region of North Rhine-Westphalia. This approach is supported by the idea that both, good and bad study habits, are a mixture of personal decisions and influence of classmates. This model allows us to forecast the student academic performance by means of confidence intervals over the next few years.

Atstādināšanas no darba pienākumu veikšanas regulējuma ietvaros pastāv zināmi problēmjautājumi. Pirmkārt, ar aizliegumu darba devējam atstādināt darbinieku no darba ilgāk par trīs mēnešiem. Taču, ja šādu atstādināšanu pieprasa attiecīgi pilnvarota valsts institūcija šāds ierobežojums termiņa ziņā darba devējam nav paredzēts. Šeit rodas zināma nevienlīdzīga likumdevēja griba darba devēja tiesību un valsts institūciju tiesību nošķiršanas ziņā. Emergence of statistically validated financial intraday lead-lag relationships

According to the leading models in modern finance, the presence of intraday lead-lag relationships between financial assets is negligible in efficient markets. With the advance of technology, however, markets have become more sophisticated. To determine whether this has resulted in an improved market efficiency, we investigate whether statistically significant lagged correlation relationships exist in financial markets. We introduce a numerical method to statistically validate links in correlation-based networks, and employ our method to study lagged correlation networks of equity returns in financial markets. Izmaiņu dispersijas novērtēšana, izmantojot Būtstrepa metodi

Eiropas Savienības darbaspēka apsekojumu izmaiņu dispersijas novērtēšanai izmanto linearizāciju. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir atrast piemērotu alternatīvu metodi linearizācijai darbaspēka apsekojumu izmaiņu dispersijas novērtēšanai. Kā alternatīva tiks apskatīta būtsrtepa metode. Darbā izmantoti Eiropas Savienības Statistikas biroja Eurostat darbaspēka apsekojuma dati, kuriem tiek pielietota būtstrepa iterāciju ģenerēšana. Iterācijas tiek ģenerētas dažādiem skaitiem un analizēti iegūtie rezultāti. Zināms, ka, jo lielāks iterāciju skaits, jo precīzāk būtstreps apraksta reālos datus. Palielinot būstrepēšanas iterāciju skaitu, vēlams tuvinoties Eurostat iegūtajiem rezultātiem.
