STAGE I GONADAL CELL TUMORS (GGCT): OUTCOME AFETR THE SURVEILLANCE STRATEGY AS APPLIED IN THE ASSOCIAZIONE ITALIANA EMATOLOGIA ONCOLOGIA PEDIATRICA (…
2012
Suveillance strategy is a standerd option in stage 1° testicular GCT and suggested for ovarian GCT too. Worries regarding the relapse risk in ovarian are emerging. We here report on our series of stage 1° GGCT
NEOPLASIE EPITELIALI MALIGNE DEL FEGATO IN ETA' PEDIATRICA: Analisi dello Studio Cooperativo Nazionale HEPA 88
1992
The Authors analyze the preliminary results of the first Italian Cooperative Research program on childhood malignant epithelial liver tumors. The value of radical surgery and the effectiveness of cisplatin and adriamycin in inducing tumor response are undelined.
FAILURE of TERATMENT in CHILDHOOD EXTRACRANIAL and EXTRATESTICULAR MALIGNANT GERM CELL TUMOURS (mgct)
2001
Platinum based chemptherapy improves the cure rate of patients with MGCT to over 80 poer cent, but tumour recurrence is associated with an unfavourable prognosis. We sought to identify factors predicitive of poor outcome following relapse.
MALIGNANT NON-SEMINOMATOUS GERM CELL TUMORS (MNSGCT) IN CHILDREN: Results of a Study of Italian Association Pediatric Oncology (AIEOP).
1995
The authors report the results of the Italian study on the treatment of non-seminomatous germ cell tumors in pediatric age and present the results of the diagnostic and therapeutic process in their experience
IL RUOLO DELLA CHIRURGIA NEL TRATTAMENTO DEI TUMORI GERMINALI IN ETA' PEDIATRICA: Analisi dello Studio Cooperativo "AIEOP TCG-'91.
1993
Authors analyze the preliminary results of the first multicentric cooperative study on Germ Celkl Tumors in childhood (TCG 91). The Authors discuss the role of primary surgical procedure on the treatment of benign forms and of resectable malignant tumors.
Navigation accuracy after automatic- and hybrid-surface registration in sinus and skull base surgery.
2016
Objective Computer-aided-surgery in ENT surgery is mainly used for sinus surgery but navigation accuracy still reaches its limits for skull base procedures. Knowledge of navigation accuracy in distinct anatomical regions is therefore mandatory. This study examined whether navigation accuracy can be improved in specific anatomical localizations by using hybrid registration technique. Study design Experimental phantom study. Setting Operating room. Subjects and methods The gold standard of screw registration was compared with automatic LED-mask-registration alone, and in combination with additional surface matching. 3D-printer-based skull models with individual fabricated silicone skin were u…
Quality of life improving after propranolol treatment in patients with Infantile Hemangiomas
2022
AbstractInfantile hemangiomas may affect the quality of life (QoL) of patients and their family members, as anxiety and worry may commonly occur in parents, also linked to the social adversion they experience. We underline the beneficial impact of oral propranolol therapy on QoL of patients with infantile hemangiomas (IH) and of their relatives. A specific questionnaire measuring QoL was administered to parents of IH patients at beginning and end of a treatment with oral propranolol. Different aspects were investigated: site of the lesion, age of patients at starting therapy, length of treatment, occurrence of adverse effects and persistence/recurrence of the vascular anomaly. In all cases …
Intra-Tumour Genetic Heterogeneity and Prognosis in High-Risk Neuroblastoma
2021
Simple Summary Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extra-cranial solid paediatric cancer and is responsible for 15% of childhood cancer deaths. Patients with NB are characterized by presenting a very heterogeneous clinic (inter-tumoural heterogeneity) and also both spatial and temporal intra-tumour heterogeneity (ITH) reflected in their genetic aberrations, which may be the consequence of the coexistence of different microenvironments within the tumour. Applying pangenomic techniques to detect genomic aberrations in different biopsies (solid and liquid) of high risk NB (HR-NB) we have detected spatial ITH in a surprisingly high percentage (almost 40%) of the studied cohort. Moreover, a po…
Optimizing Sequential Systemic Therapies for Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Decision Analysis
2020
Background: An optimal sequential systemic therapy for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been discovered. We developed a decision model based on available clinical trials to identify an optimal risk/benefit strategy for sequences of novel systemic agents. Methods: A Markov model was built to simulate overall survival (OS) among patients with advanced HCC. Three first-line (single-agent Sorafenib or Lenvatinib, and combination of Atezolizumab plus Bevacizumab) followed by five second-line treatments (Regorafenib, Cabozantinib, Ramucirumab, Nivolumab, Pembrolizumab) were compared in fifteen sequential strategies. The likelihood of transition between states (initial treatment, ca…
The role of targeted therapy for gastrointestinal tumors
2014
Abstract: Many targeted drugs have been studied to target the molecular pathways involved in the development of gastrointestinal cancers. Anti-VEGF, anti-EGFR agents, and recently also multi-kinase inhibitor regorafenib, have already been available for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer patients. To date, Her-2 positive, gastric cancer patients, are also treated with trastuzumab, while the multi-targeted inhibitor, sorafenib, represents the standard treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma patients. Finally, sunitinib and everolimus, have been approved for the treatment of the neuroendocrine gastroenteropancreatic tumors. Actually a great number of further drugs are under preclinic…
