Fulvius Stål (Cylapinae: Fulviini) is a large plant bug genus, with more than 80 described species distributed throughout the world (Schuh, 1995; 2002–2014). In Japan, five species listed below have been recorded mostly from the subtropical Ryukyu arc (Yasunaga, 2000, 2001; Yasunaga & Miyamoto, 2006; Yasunaga et al., 2012). Our recent closer examinations of these Japanese species suggest that (1) what was previously identified as Fulvius dimidiatus Poppius represents an undescribed species, and (2) F. nakatai Yasunaga & Miyamoto described from Okinawa Island is evidently conspecific with F. subnitens Poppius that was described from New Guinea but is now known from pantropical zones …
Whole-genome characterization of Shewanella algae strain SYT3 isolated from seawater reveals insight into hemolysis.

Aim: To describe the genomic characteristics of seawater-borne hemolytic Shewanella algae and its resistance genes. Materials & methods: Whole genome sequence of S. algae SYT3 was determined using llumina MiSeq platform. Multiple-database-based analysis was performed to identify the genetic background of its hemolytic activity and the antibiotic resistance genes. Results: S. algae SYT3 possesses a homolog of the hly operon involved in the synthesis of hemolysin. We also identified candidate genes associated with resistance to β-lactam antibiotics (bla OXA-55) and fluoroquinolone (qnrA3). In this study, the concept of social capital is applied to an exploration of Guanxi (social networking to create good relationships) among working lone mothers of adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) in Taiwan. Using in-depth interviews, this study explores the role of social capital, here referred to as 'care capital', in making it possible for working lone mothers to combine their roles as family carers and workers. Respite care as a community care service: Factors associated with the effects on family carers of adults with intellectual disability in Taiwan

This study examines the effects and associated factors of respite care, which was legislated as a community service for adults with an intellectual disability (ID) in Taiwan in 1997.A total of 116 family carers who live with an adult with ID and have utilised the respite care program were surveyed using standardised measures.The results suggest that the most notable effects of respite care include improvement in the carers' social support and life satisfaction, and relief of psychological stress and overall burden of care.
