AbstractIn the present study, we aimed to specify the key competence domains perceived to be critical for the teaching profession and depict them as a comprehensive teacher competence model. An expert panel that included representatives from seven units providing university-based initial teacher education in Finland carried out this process. The theme of our research is understanding why many aspects of school climate are interrelated and how such relations influence subsequent scholastic functioning. The research is oriented towards the determination of personal and environmental factors that provide to explain several aspects of the construct. We administered a test battery to analyze: Scholastic Climate; Personal and Collective Efficacy; Organizational Commitment, Involvement, and Job Satisfaction. Aim. This research aims to confirm that transdisciplinary projects can be very adequate to develop content and competencies traditionally assigned to Sciences and Arts in higher education, exploring the possibilities of outdoor education.

The premise, promise and disillusion of the ADHD categorisation - family narrative about the child's broken school trajectory

This study presents co-narrated school experiences of a young Finnish girl diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and those of her parents. The discourse analysis of the family interview focused on the discrepant ways family members gave meanings to and mobilised the ADHD categorisation while narrating their broken school trajectory. The results showed that the ADHD diagnosis was laden with the promise of the whole family being recognised differently by the school.
