Management and use of filter masks in the “none-medical” population during the Covid-19 period
2020
Abstract SARS-CoV-2 has become a pandemic disease declared by the World Health Organization, consequently each nation has taken a series of actions managed by the government in order to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus. The most common countermeasure is the use of a mask that should cover the mouth and nose to filter the inhaled and exhaled air. Those masks are medical devices that should be handled properly; unfortunately in our study, observation of the population during the so-called “phase 2″ has very often shown an inappropriate use of any type of mask which reduces its effectiveness. The correct dissemination of adequate information on how to use the mask and the strict cont…
Local spectral theory for Drazin invertible operators
2016
Abstract In this paper we investigate the transmission of some local spectral properties from a bounded linear operator R, as SVEP, Dunford property (C), and property (β), to its Drazin inverse S, when this does exist.
Backoff Hardware Architecture for Inter-FPGA Traffic Management
2017
International audience; Multi-FPGA platforms are considered to be the mostappropriate experimental way to emulate a large Multi-ProcessorSystem-on-Chip based on a Network-on-Chip. However, theuse of a Network-on-Chip in several FPGAs requires inter-FPGA communication links to replace intra-FPGA links betweenrouters. As the ratio of the logic capacity to the number of IOsonly increases slowly with each generation of FPGA, IOs inFPGA are becoming a scare resource. And as there are morerouters than IOs, using a Network-on-Chip requires sharinginter-FPGA links between routers, and sharing an external linkcan lead to bottlenecks. Here, we evaluate the inter-FPGA trafficmanagement using a backoff…

Research Direction for Developing an Infrastructure for Mobile & Wireless Systems: Consensus Report of the NSF Workshop Held on October 15, 2001 …
2002
The recent NSF Workshop on Infrastructure for Mobile and Wireless Systems, held on Oct. 15, 2001 in Phoenix had a goal of defining and establishing a common infrastructure for the discipline of mobile wireless networking. This consensus-based paper is the outcome of that workshop. The paper provides a foundation for implementation, standardization, and further research and discussion on the issues of what should constitute such an infrastructure. Workshop participants came from many different wireless communities, including those of communications, operating systems, core networking, mobility, databases, and middleware. The workshop presented various research directions in the field and inc…
A Bayesian cost-effectiveness analysis of a telemedicine-based strategy for the management of sleep apnoea: a multicentre randomised controlled trial
2015
Background Compliance with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is essential in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), but adequate control is not always possible. This is clinically important because CPAP can reverse the morbidity and mortality associated with OSA. Telemedicine, with support provided via a web platform and video conferences, could represent a cost-effective alternative to standard care management. Aim To assess the telemedicine impact on treatment compliance, cost-effectiveness and improvement in quality of life (QoL) when compared with traditional face-to-face follow-up. Methods A randomised controlled trial was performed to compare a telemedicine-bas…
Local Spectral Theory for R and S Satisfying RnSRn = Rj
2020
In this paper, we analyze local spectral properties of operators R,S and RS which satisfy the operator equations RnSRn=Rj and SnRSn=Sj for same integers j&ge
Distributions Frames and bases
2018
In this paper we will consider, in the abstract setting of rigged Hilbert spaces, distribution valued functions and we will investigate, in particular, conditions for them to constitute a "continuous basis" for the smallest space $\mathcal D$ of a rigged Hilbert space. This analysis requires suitable extensions of familiar notions as those of frame, Riesz basis and orthonormal basis. A motivation for this study comes from the Gel'fand-Maurin theorem which states, under certain conditions, the existence of a family of generalized eigenvectors of an essentially self-adjoint operator on a domain $\mathcal D$ which acts like an orthonormal basis of the Hilbert space $\mathcal H$. The correspond…
Regular solutions of transmission and interaction problems for wave equations
1989
Consider n bounded domains Ω ⊆ ℝ and elliptic formally symmetric differential operators A1 of second order on Ωi Choose any closed subspace V in , and extend (Ai)i=1,…,n by Friedrich's theorem to a self-adjoint operator A with D(A1/2) = V (interaction operator). We give asymptotic estimates for the eigenvalues of A and consider wave equations with interaction. With this concept, we solve a large class of problems including interface problems and transmission problems on ramified spaces.25,32 We also treat non-linear interaction, using a theorem of Minty29.

We study the geometry of plane domains and the uniform Holder continuity properties of analytic functions.
