Ontology-based state representations for intention recognition in human–robot collaborative environments
2013
In this paper, we describe a novel approach for representing state information for the purpose of intention recognition in cooperative human-robot environments. States are represented by a combination of spatial relationships in a Cartesian frame along with cardinal direction information. This approach is applied to a manufacturing kitting operation, where humans and robots are working together to develop kits. Based upon a set of predefined high-level state relationships that must be true for future actions to occur, a robot can use the detailed state information described in this paper to infer the probability of subsequent actions occurring. This would allow the robot to better help the …
Accelerating orthodontic tooth movement: a new, minimally-invasive corticotomy technique using a 3D-printed surgical template
2015
Background A reduction in orthodontic treatment time can be attained using corticotomies. The aggressive nature of corticotomy due to the elevation of muco-periosteal flaps and to the duration of the surgery raised reluctance for its employ among patients and dental community. This study aims to provide detailed information on the design and manufacture of a 3D-printed CAD-CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) surgical guide which can aid the clinician in achieving a minimally-invasive, flapless corticotomy. Material and Methods An impression of dental arches was created; the models were digitally-acquired using a 3D scanner and saved as STereoLithography ( STL ) file…
Factors affecting the UV-Transparency of Molecular Sieves
1994
The optical properties in the UV-region of several types of molecular sieves were studied. The initial onset of absorption around 280 nm which was observed for basically all samles synthesized without special precautions is not due to an early onset of band gap absorption, but might be correlated to the crystal size as well as structural defects within the crystals, e.g. E'-center or peroxy-radical. Using template free synthesis procedures which lead to small crystals containing few defect sites, we were able to synthesize molevular sieves which were almost completely transparent down to 200 nm. Such crystals can become very important in the development of technical luminophores.
Synthesis And Sorptive Properties Of Dodecasil 1 H With An Acessible Pore System
1994
Abstract The synthesis of Dodecasil 1H was studied in the system SiO2/1-adamantylamine/NH3/water with the objective of controlling the particle size and the morphology of the crystals. Since nucleation occurs in a very early stage of the synthesis, the heating rate to the final temperature have a strong influence on both parameters. Using seed crystals and such a heating programme, the expensive template 1-adamantylamine can be reduced to so small amounts, that a nearly template free pore system is achieved. The emptiness of the pore system was demonstrated from adsorption measurement using He and H2.
Propyl substituted 4-arylimino-1,2,3-trihydroacridylnickel complexes: Their synthesis, characterization and catalytic behavior toward ethylene
2015
Propyl substituted 4-arylimino-1,2,3-trihydroacridylnickel dihalide complexes were designed and prepared by metal-induced template reaction with NiCl2 center dot 6H(2)O or (DME)NiBr2. They were characterized by infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Single crystal X-ray crystallography of representative complex Ni3 revealed a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry around nickel. The catalytic activities of the title nickel complexes were negatively affected by propyl substituent on their backbone when comparing with the results by unsubstituted ones. With the activation of diethylaluminium chloride, all nickel complexes exhibited moderate activity (up to 5.10 x 10(5) g mol(-1)(Ni) h…
Metal Displacement Deposition: a facile via to grow metal and metal oxide nanostructures
2010
Nanostructured materials have received increasing attention because of their high chemical reactivity that allows an extensive use in many fields, like catalysis, electrosynthesis, sensors, and so on [1]. Taking into account that size plays a fundamental role for the properties of nanostructures, it is of relevant importance for their applications to develop a facile method of synthesis. In our previous works, we have described a template synthesis of metal nanowires through a simple novel route [2-4]. In particular, using a combination of template deposition and metal displacement reaction, we have fabricated pure metal nanowires with a well-defined morphology. This type of template synthe…
Fabrication and Photoelectrochemical Behavior of Ordered CIGS Nanowire Arrays for Application in Solar Cells
2010
In this work, we report some preliminary results concerning the fabrication of quaternary copper, indium, gallium, and selenium CIGS nanowires that were grown inside the channels of an anodic alumina membrane by one-step potentiostatic deposition at different applied potentials and room temperature. A tunable nanowire composition was achieved through a manipulation of the applied potential and electrolyte composition. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that nanowires, whose chemical composition was determined by energy-dispersive spectroscopy analysis, were amorphous. A composition of Cu0.203In0.153Ga0.131Se0.513, very close to the stoichiometric value, was obtained. These nanostructures wer…
Anodic Alumina Membranes: From Electrochemical Growth to Use as Template for Fabrication of Nanostructured Electrodes
2022
The great success of anodic alumina membranes is due to their morphological features coupled to both thermal and chemical stability. The electrochemical fabrication allows accurate control of the porous structure: in fact, the membrane morphological characteristics (pore length, pore diameter and cell density) can be controlled by adjusting the anodizing parameters (bath, temperature, voltage and time). This article deals with both the fabrication and use of anodic alumina membranes. In particular, we will show the specific role of the addition of aluminum ions to phosphoric acid-based anodizing solution in modifying the morphology of anodic alumina membranes. Anodic alumina membranes were …
Synthesis of Silver Gallium Selenide (AgGaSe2) Nanotubes and Nanowires by Template-Based Electrodeposition
2020
In this work, a systematic investigation of the different parameters that control the electrodeposition processes was carried out at the aim to synthetizing AgGaSe₂ nanostructures. We found that pH is a key parameter to control both the morphology and composition of the nanostructures. Low pH favours mainly the formation of Ag2Se nanotubes with a scarce mechanical stability, while multi-phase nanowires well anchored to the substrate were obtained at higher pH. We also found that it was necessary to increase dramatically the concentration of the gallium precursor into the deposition bath in order to obtain AgGaSe₂ owing to lower redox potential of the Ga3+/Ga couple than Ag2+/Ag and Se4+/Se.…
Aromatic N-oxide templates open inclusion and dimeric capsular assemblies with methylresorcinarene
2015
C2-2-methylresorcinarene forms host–guest complexes with pyridine N-oxide and quinoline N-oxide. In solution the NMR studies support the 1 : 1 host–guest complexes while in the solid state, the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal dimeric capsule-like assemblies with 2 : 3 and 2 : 2 host–guest stoichiometry.
