Numerical Calibration of a Simplified Model for FRP Confinement of Columns
2018
This paper presents the calibration of a simplified analytical model for concrete columns confined by fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) jackets. The model allows evaluating the increase of strength, ductility and dissipated energy without defining the lateral confinement pressure and it can be easily extended for the assessment of FRP confinement in design applications. This model was obtained by a simplified procedure based on the best fit of experimental data available in the literature and the coefficient of determination (R2) was evaluated in order to estimate the accuracy of the regression analysis. A numerical database resulting from finite element (FE) analyses was compiled and reported…
Dependence of 85Kr(β)-Clearance rCBF Determination on the Input Function
1969
Two procedures have been proposed for the quantitative determination of rCBF by analysis of radioactive inert gas clearance curves, following intra-arterial injection: 1. the slope-method [1], 2. the height-over-area-method [4].
Percentile Reference Charts for Selected Sleep Parameters for 20- to 80-Year-Old Healthy Subjects from the SIESTA Database. Referenzkurven fur ausgew…
2005
One of the aims of the SIESTA project was to establish a normative database of sleep parameters for healthy and sleep-disturbed patients. Reference data for sleep parameters in non-sleep-disturbed subjects are scarce and usually refer to means and standard deviations. However, since most of the parameters do not follow a Gaussian distribution, percentiles of the distribution provide more detailed information. The present results are based on data from 198 healthy, non-sleep-disturbed subjects (104 females) in the age range of 20 to 95 years. For every subject, two consecutive nights were polysomnographically recorded in one of the eight participating clinical centres. Percentile charts were…
Conscientiousness, self‐determination, and satisfaction in soccer academies: A longitudinal perspective
2009
Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate from a longitudinal perspective the relationships between conscientiousness, soccer and school self‐determination, and satisfaction in soccer academies. Newly recruited French soccer athletes responded to satisfaction and self‐determination measures three times, once every four months, and to conscientiousness measure in Time 2. Results showed that soccer self‐determination of trainees decreased and that its relationship with satisfaction was stronger over time. Moreover, results indicated that the relationship between trainee conscientiousness and satisfaction depends on the level of soccer self‐determination (S S‐D); when it was relatively hi…
I-states-as-objects-analysis (ISOA): Extensions of an approach to studying short-term developmental processes by analyzing typical patterns
2012
I-states-as-objects-analysis (ISOA) is a person-oriented methodology for studying short-term developmental stability and change in patterns of variable values. ISOA is based on longitudinal data with the same set of variables measured at all measurement occasions. A key concept is the i-state, defined as a person’s pattern of variable values at a specific time point. All i-states are first subjected to a classification analysis that results in a time-invariant classification characterized by a number of typical i-states. Each person is then characterized at each time point by the typical i-state he/she belongs to. Then the person’s sequences of typical i-states are analyzed with regard to …
(Social-contextual and …
2011
Dar…
Manual packing and soil reuse effects on determination of saturated hydraulic conductivity of a loam soil
2022
Abstract Performing laboratory measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity, Ks, of sieved soil is important for many scientific purposes such as testing theories and methods to determine Ks. A given soil mass can be used only once or it can be reused after a previous use. Little is known on the dependence of the Ks measurements on both the applied packing method and the reuse of the same soil mass. This lack of knowledge makes comparisons among different investigations more or less uncertain. Four packing methods were tested on an initially dry loam soil by measuring Ks with the simplified falling head (SFH) technique. The four methods differed by the used compacting procedure (dropping…
Testing the “physical model concept” by soil loss data measured in Sicily
2012
The best possible model to predict the erosion from an area of land has been suggested to be a physical model of the area that has similar soil type, land use, size, shape, slope and erosive inputs. Therefore, a replicated plot has to be considered the best possible, unbiased, real world model. In this paper the physical model concept was tested by using soil loss data collected on plots of different length at the experimental station of Sparacia, in Sicily (South Italy). This investigation supported the conclusions that i) a coefficient of determination between measured and predicted soil loss values of 0.77 has to be considered as the best-case prediction scenario and ii) an uncalibrated …
