Integrative effects of vine water relations and grape ripeness level of vitis vinifera L. cv. Shiraz/Richter 99. II. grape composition and wine quali…

2016

Regulation of grapevine water status is a common practice to manipulate grape composition and wine quality. In this investigation the effect of plant water status (two field water capacity-based irrigation levels, 75% and 100%, applied at single and combined vine developmental stages) and ripeness level (harvesting at different soluble solid levels) on grape composition and wine quality of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Shiraz/ Richter 99 was determined. Integrative effects of vine water relations and grape ripeness level, specifically in a Mediterranean high winter rainfall area, have not yet been investigated systematically.

2009

This article offers a reflection on the concept of “terroir”. This word has no exact translation in the English language because of the symbolic signification in the French culture. We will state the legislative and patrimonial link between “terroir” and wine which is often mixed in the people’s mind. In the field of Information and Communication, we will establish a meaning to this concept of “terroir”, from the representation and the situations of consummation that this brings about. This will lead us to do a contextual analysis which will underline new needs for the actor (in the sociological sense of the term) who adapts himself to the system he has to integrate. Then, we will obtain logi…

The "terroir products", between environment, culture and territorial development

2009

International audience; In the double context of globalization and socio-ecological transition, numerous territories are in search of models of development granting a larger place in social dimension, in environment, in culture, and generally in immaterial resources. They also explore other kinds of governance based on collaboration, participation and global approach. In this regard, the mode of development constructed on the promotion of "terroir products" appears as a particularly promising way; on condition of course that the reference to the" terroir" is not a simple argument of marketing in the service of a product but the support of a true project of territory. The definition given in…

LE VIGNOBLE DU COUCHOIS : "ET SI L'HISTOIRE PARLAIT DE SON RENOUVEAU"

2022

2011

Through time and space, the construction of the wine territories reveals them as subjects of economic issues. The analysis of these economic issues mobilizes traditional concepts (theory of comparative advantages) and more moderns (new economic geography). Thus, we progress gradually from the geographical territory with numerous dimensions (subsoil, soil, vegetation…) to the concept of economic territory of which the use by the wine growing refers to the traditional factors of structuring and the use of space (ground, population, financing, nature, …). Considering the use of these various factors within a region, a country or / and between several countries requires: (1) to consider the int…

Soil Erosion as an Environmental Concern in Vineyards. The Case Study of Celler del Roure, Eastern Spain, by Means of Rainfall Simulation Experiments

2018

Soil erosion in vineyards is considered as an environmental concern as it depletes soil fertility and causes damage in the fields and downstream. High soil and water losses decrease soil quality, and subsequently, this can reduce the quality of the grapes and wine. However, in specialized journals of viticulture and enology, soil erosion studies are not present. This paper surveys the soil erosion losses in the vineyards of Celler del Roure, Eastern Spain, as an example of Mediterranean vineyards. We applied rainfall simulation experiments (10 plots) using a small portable rainfall simulator and 55 mm h−1 in one hour to characterize soil erodibility, runoff discharge, and soil erosion…
