Physical Properties of Ba0.95Pb0.05TiO3+0.1%Co2O3
2012
The single-phase perovskite structure of the Ba0.95Pb0.05TiO3+0.1%Co2O3 ceramics was confirmed by the X-ray diffraction method. Microstructural studies revealed that the samples were of good quality and chemically homogeneous. The thermal behaviour of ceramics was studied using the in situ high-temperature X-ray synchrotron powder diffraction investigation. The energy gap of about 3.2 eV was estimated using a reflectance spectroscopy. Measurements showed the influence of Pb and Co on the character of phase transition in the BaTiO3 structure. The results were compared to the ones obtained for pure BaTiO3.
Thermal expansion of LiZr2(PO4)3: Water inclusion influence
1989
Abstract Lattice thermal expansion has been measured on three samples of composition LiZr 2 (PO 4 ) 3 , prepared by (i) a ceramic method, (ii) a gel-route and (iii) a nonstoichiometric ceramic. The first sample is monoclinic (?), with a transition at 50°C to rhombohedral. The second is clearly monoclinic with lattice parameters depending on the calcination temperature (700 to 1200°C. The third kind of synthesis yielded a new PO 4 -deficitary rhombohedral structure. X-ray diffraction measurements in a high temperature camera have been made from room temperature up to 1100°C. Lattice parameters, as well as their dependence on temperature are different for the three samples. While thermal expa…
Influence of Lithium Substitution on Structure, Electric and Pyroelectric Properties of Sodium Niobate Ceramics
2012
Li0.02Na0.98NbO3 ceramics were prepared by a conventional method. A single-phase perovskite structure was identified by an X-ray diffraction method. The SEM and EDS studies revealed that the Li0.02Na0.98NbO3 samples were perfectly sintered and chemically homogeneous. Electric measurements showed that Li0.02Na0.98NbO3 was sensitive to the frequency of the applied electric field and revealed that the ac conductivity changed with frequency according to the formula: σ(ω) = σdc +Aωn where n < 1. These results were discussed with a reference to the conduction mechanism as a type of polaron hopping.
Single-Crystal X-Ray Diffraction Study of Pressure and Temperature-Induced Spin Trapping in a Bistable Iron(II) Hofmann Framework.
2020
High-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction has been used to trap both the low-spin (LS) and high-spin (HS) states of the iron(II) Hofmann spin crossover framework, [FeII (pdm)(H2 O)[Ag(CN)2 ]2 ⋅H2 O, under identical experimental conditions, allowing the structural changes arising from the spin-transition to be deconvoluted from previously reported thermal effects.
Epitaxial growth and thermoelectric properties of TiNiSn and Zr0.5Hf0.5NiSn thin films
2011
Abstract Due to their exceptional thermoelectric properties Half-Heusler alloys like MNiSn (M = Ti,Zr,Hf) have moved into focus. The growth of single crystalline thin film TiNiSn and Zr 0.5 Hf 0.5 NiSn by dc magnetron sputtering is reported. Seebeck and resistivity measurements were performed and their dependence on epitaxial quality is shown. Seebeck coefficient, specific resistivity and power factor for Zr 0.5 Hf 0.5 NiSn at room temperature were measured to be 63 μV K − 1 , 14.1 μΩ m and 0.28 mW K − 2 m − 1 , respectively. Multilayers of TiNiSn and Zr 0.5 Hf 0.5 NiSn are promising candidates to increase the thermoelectric figure-of-merit by decreasing thermal conductivity perpendicular …
Facile fabrication of flower like self-assembled mesoporous hierarchical microarchitectures of In(OH)3 and In2O3: In(OH)3 micro flowers with electron…
2016
Abstract A template and capping-reagent free facile fabrication method for mesoporous hierarchical microarchitectures of flower-like In(OH) 3 particles under benign hydrothermal conditions is reported. Calcination of In(OH) 3 to In 2 O 3 with the retention of morphology is also described. Both In(OH) 3 and In 2 O 3 microstructures were analyzed with SEM, EDX, TEM and powder X-ray diffraction. The crystal sizes for In(OH) 3 and In 2 O 3 were calculated using the Scherrer equation. In In(OH) 3 the thin flakes at the periphery of micro flowers were electron beam sensitive. The mechanism of self-assembly process was analyzed as well.
Influence of the pH on the ZnO nanoparticle growth in supercritical water: Experimental and simulation approaches
2014
Abstract In order to improve the knowledge on the nucleation and the growth mechanisms of metal oxides nanoparticles produced in supercritical water domain, ZnO was used as a “model” material. A continuous process of hydrothermal synthesis was employed to synthesize ZnO nanopowders ( T = 410 °C and P = 305 bar) from Zn(NO 3 ) 2 and KOH solutions with different values of [KOH]/[Zn(II)] ratio from 0 to 8 in order to investigate the pH effect on the growth of ZnO nanocrystallite in terms of size and morphology. The samples were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction and Transmission Electronic Microscopy. ZnO crystal was considered as a cylindrical crystallite with a diameter D and height H . Es…
GdBO3 and YBO3 crystals under compression
2021
High-pressure X-ray diffraction studies on nanocrystals of the GdBO3 and YBO3 rare-earth orthoborates are herein reported up to 17.4(2) and 13.4(2) GPa respectively. The subsequent determination of the room-temperature pressure-volume equations of state is presented and discussed in the context of contemporary publications which contradict the findings of this work. In particular, the isothermal bulk moduli of GdBO3 and YBO3 are found to be 170(13) and 163(13) GPa respectively, almost 50% smaller than recent findings. Our experimental results provide an accurate revision of the high-pressure compressibility behaviour of GdBO3 and YBO3 which is consistent with the known systematics in isomor…
Facile Large Scale Synthesis of WS2 Nanotubes from WO3 Nanorods Prepared by a Hydrothermal Route.
2005
Abstract Hexagonal WO 3 nanorods of 5–50 nm in diameter and 150–250 nm in length have been synthesised in gram quantities by a low temperature hydrothermal route using citric acid as a structural modifier and hexadecylamine as a templating agent. The ratio of [A]/[W] play an important role on WO 3 nanorods formation. These WO 3 nanorods were found highly suitable as a precursor for the synthesis of a good yield of multiwalled WS 2 nanotubes by reducing them with H 2 S at 840 °C for 30 min. The length and the wall thickness of the WS 2 nanotubes could be altered by controlled reduction of the oxide precursor. The morphology, structure and the composition of the WO 3 nanorods and WS 2 nanotub…
Electrical Characterization of the Fe-Doped BT Ceramics by an Impedance Spectroscopy
2015
The electric properties of the Fe - doped BaTiO3 ceramics was investigated as a function of frequency and temperature. The structure and morphology of investigated sample were characterized by an X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The impedance measurements were carried out at the temperature ranging from 450 K to 600 K, and at the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 10 MHz. Based on these parameters the electrical properties of the grains and grains boundaries were described. The bulk and grains boundaries resistance of ceramics and the thermal activation energies were determined.
