The integration of quality and safety concerns in the wine industry: the role of third-party voluntary certifications
2016
Abstract Over the past few years, public attention has focused on the quality and safety control, traceability, and environmental issues surrounding food products. Several mandatory public standards and private voluntary schemes worldwide have been developed to address these concerns. Using survey data, this paper analyses the key factors affecting the adoption of voluntary quality standards in the wine industry and the existence of a relationship between the adoption of voluntary quality standards and economic performance, measured in terms of labour productivity and marketing behaviour. The survey involved 89 cellars, of which 68 were non-certified and 21 had one or more food quality cert…
Multilevel Methodology Approach for the Construction of Real Estate Monthly Index Numbers
2015
AbstractIn this paper, we evaluate price indices and hedonic price indices for Italian real estate data using multilevel models. The methodology is based on a random coefficient panel data model. We propose a Laspeyres-type price index and hedonic prices indexes based on some characteristics of the sold properties. The multilevel hierarchical analysis has the advantage of allowing the appraisal analysis for groups, and identified in the same sample data the hierarchical structures of market segmentation according to the parameters of the real estate segment. It allows getting a lot of regression functions as the number of groups identified. Obviously, this depends on the sample size and the…
The determinants affecting the internationalisation of the Italian SMEs producing sparkling wines: An empirical study on the RBV of the firms
2014
In the last few years, wine industry has been characterised by profound changes that have determined an intensification of competition on a global scale. The aim of this study is to identify the firms’ internal factors that most influence the export intensity and the ability to fit into the international market of the Italian wineries producing sparkling wines through a resource-based view (RBV) approach. Results of our study supporting the findings of previous empirical researches presented in this paper. In particular, the main factors affecting export intensity are: innovation degree and intensity of investment in advertising and promotion, among firms’ characteristics, and abroad experi…
University Students as Composers of a Digital Video
2013
This paper introduces a university course in which digital video composing was used as a study method. The aim of the course was to empower future teachers to use digital and multimodal literacy practices in their own teaching. Students in education, 13 in total, participated in the course on digital literacies. The course achievement was measured with the task in which students composed a video in small-groups. The students’ videos were supposed to convince a pedagogical target group about the usefulness of a teaching method or need for a reform. In the last meeting, student’s videos were watched and the contents of the videos were discussed. The experiences on composing a digital video we…
New data on the mercury antimony mineral shakhovite: Chemical composition, unit cell and crystal structure
1982
A new investigation of the mercury antimony mineral shakhovite yielded space groupIm witha=4.871(1),b=15.098(3),c=5,433(1) A and β=98.86(2)°. The determination of the crystal structure gave a cell content of Hg8Sb2O12. Since the presence of Hg2-groups indicates that shakhovite is a pure Hg(1) compound and the infrared spectrum shows an absorption band at 3440 cm−1 which is due to the OH-stretching frequency, it is assumed that there are six oxygen atoms and six OH-groups in the unit cell. Thus the chemical formula of shakhovite reads Hg4Sb(OH)3O3 with two formula units per unit cell. The Hg−Hg distance in the Hg2-group is 2.543 A, each mercury atom has a close oxygen neighbour at 2.160 and …
Antimony-121 mössbauer and infrared spectral study on halophenylantimonate(III) Compounds
1981
Abstract The synthesis and the 121 Sb Mossbauer and infrared spectra of halophenylantimonates(III) M[PhSbX 3 ] (M Me 4 N, Ph 4 As;X Cl, Br, I) are reported, and the spectral data are discussed and compared with those of SbX 4 and other related systems. The results are in accord with the participation of the antimony 5s electrons in the SbPh bond. In the interpretation of the electric field gradient, the contributions to V zz from both the lone pair and the SbPh bond electron densities are assumed to be dominant.
Aligning Inner Peripheries with rural development in Italy: Territorial evidence to support policy contextualization
2021
Abstract Inner Peripheries is a recent concept based on both peripherality and marginality features, thus far from the commonly adopted geographical notion of periphery. Inner Peripheries are fragile territories covering rural Europe, which suffer from depopulation, low economic potential, and weak territorial cohesion. However, these territories are extremely important for the provision of goods and services, and the stewardship of natural and semi-natural environments. Such dichotomous condition poses several challenges for planning in the EU context, particularly regarding the implementation of the Rural Development Policy. Therefore, current planning needs to contextualize the policy im…
Textos de Identidad Multimodales en el Aula de Inglés como Lengua Extranjera: Una Herramienta para Desarrollo de Habilidades Cognitivas y Académicas …
2016
[EN] The present action-research project in progress deals with the production and evaluation of “identity texts” (Cummins & Early, 2011) from EFL students in the context of a specific subject within the major of English Teacher in Primary Education at the Faculty of Education of the Universitat de València. This project is part of a larger “Innovation in education” project, whose main objective is to promote the use of identity texts as the key strategy of the “teaching for linguistic transfer” approach (Cummins, 2005b). Identity texts foster learners’ cognitive and academic transfer from their first language (L1) to their second or foreign language (L2/FL), and offer students an opportuni…
Synthesen und Strukturen von Ethyl‐, Propyl‐, Butyl‐ und Mesitylantimon
1989
Investigation of the Thermoelectric Properties of the Series TiCo1-xNixSnxSb1-x
2010
The effect of the simultaneous substitution of cobalt by nickel and antimony by tin in the solid solution TiCo1–xNixSnxSb1–x was systematically investigated. The number of valence electrons does not change by this substitution and therefore the resistivity stays semimetallic or semiconducting. The series were synthesized by arcmelting and the thermoelectric properties were determined. It was found out that the substitution of cobalt and antimony by nickel and tin reduces the thermal conductivity to 2 W·m–1·K–1 at 400 K. The reduction is caused by titanium rich prolate micro structures that were found by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy investigations. The Seebeck coefficient and the res…
