Abstract The Isbell, compact-open and point-open topologies on the set C ( X , R ) of continuous real-valued maps can be represented as the dual topologies with respect to some collections α ( X ) of compact families of open subsets of a topological space X . Those α ( X ) for which addition is jointly continuous at the zero function in C α ( X , R ) are characterized, and sufficient conditions for translations to be continuous are found. As a result, collections α ( X ) for which C α ( X , R ) is a topological vector space are defined canonically. A space $X$ is called selectively separable(R-separable) if for every sequence of dense subspaces $(D_n : n\in\omega)$ one can pick finite (respectively, one-point) subsets $F_n\subset D_n$ such that $\bigcup_{n\in\omega}F_n$ is dense in $X$. These properties are much stronger than separability, but are equivalent to it in the presence of certain convergence properties. For example, we show that every Hausdorff separable radial space is R-separable and note that neither separable sequential nor separable Whyburn spaces have to be selectively separable. The sensitivity of tropical Atlantic precipitation patterns to the mean position of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) at different time scales is well‐known. However, recent research suggests a more complex behavior of the northern hemispheric tropical rain belt related to the ITCZ in the western tropical Atlantic. Iron is an essential micronutrient for all eukaryotic organisms because it participates as a redox cofactor in a wide variety of biological processes. Recent studies in Saccharomyces cerevisiae have shown that in response to iron deficiency, an RNA-binding protein denoted Cth2 coordinates a global metabolic rearrangement that aims to optimize iron utilization. The Cth2 protein contains two Cx8Cx5Cx3H tandem zinc fingers (TZFs) that specifically bind to adenosine/uridine-rich elements within the 3' untranslated region of many mRNAs to promote their degradation. We give an upper estimate for the Łojasiewicz exponent $\ell(J,I)$ of an ideal $J\subseteq A(K^{n})$ with respect to another ideal I in the ring $A(K^{n})$ of germs analytic functions $f$ : $(K^{n},\mathrm{O})\rightarrow K$ , where $K=C$ or $R$ , using Newton polyhedrons. In particular, we give a method to estimate the Łojasiewicz exponent $\alpha_{0}(f)$ of a germ $f\in A(K^{n})$ that can be applied when $f$ is Newton degenerate with respect to its Newton polyhedron.

Th e risk of malignancy in Crohn ’ s disease (CD) has been well described. Moreover, immunomodulators, uch as azathioprine (AZA) and 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP), and biological agents, such as infl iximab and adalimumab, may promote carcinogenesis ( 1 – 3 ). Splenic littoral cell tumors are recently described tumors of vascular origin composed of endothelial cells, with typical microscopic and immunohistochemical features of splenic sinus lining cells ( 4 ). Clinical findings are not specific, and outcome is unpredictable but usually benign, although a few cases with a malignant behavior have been reported ( 5,6 ). Tarkastelen artikkelissa Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran (SKS) arkiston suhdetta kouluihin: sitä, missä rooleissa opettajat ja oppilaat ovat toimineet perinteen ja nykykulttuurin tallentamisessa 1800-luvulta tähän päivään ja millaisia tavoitteita SKS:llä on eri aikoina ollut koulujen kanssa tehdylle yhteistyölle. SKS perustettiin vuonna 1831 edistämään suomen kielen ja suomenkielisen kirjallisuuden asemaa. Kansanperinteen keruu ja tallentaminen kuuluivat seuran toimintaan alusta lähtien. Objetivo: Demostrar que la verificación mediante Cone Beam CT (CBCT) en una serie de pacientes tratados con radioterapia externa 3D (RTE3D) por su cáncer de próstata (CP) se relaciona con una reducción de los niveles de toxicidad aguda y tardía. Material y Métodos: Se ha realizado un estudio retrospectivo no aleatorizado de 2 grupos homogéneos de pacientes tratados entre 2005 y 2008, 46 pacientes verificados mediante Electronic Portal Devices (EPIC) y 48 verificados mediante CBCT (Electa Synergy), con una mediana de edad de 67 años (42-85 años).
