This prospective multicenter trial was performed to determine the response rate, toxicity and applicability of continuous 24 h hepatic arterial infusion of high-dose 5-FU and folinic acid. An improved response rate (60.5% in non-pretreated patients) was however associated with many systemic side-effects (340/509), mainly nausea and diarrhea. Therefore this treatment should be applied only in selected patients in specialized centers.

Summary The anesthetic-conserving device (AnaConDa™) facilitated, from a technical viewpoint, the routine use of volatile anesthetics in intensive care patients using ICU ventilators. To date, its use is currently time-limited by clinicians due to the potential renal and hepatic toxicity associated with the production of plasma fluoride after its metabolism, despite its advantages. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy profile of pegylated interferon α-2b (PEG-IFN α-2b) in combination with photochemotherapy (PUVA) in the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) in comparison with standard IFN α plus PUVA. Design Retrospective cohort study over a period of 7 years. The pharmacological treatment of neoplasia is based on the use of chemotherapeutic substances. Chemotherapeutic agents can cause acute and chronic toxicity even at therapeutic doses. For this reason their overdose puts a patientâs life at severe risk. This work presents an unusual fatal case of overdose subsequent to an accidental massive administration of Vinblastine (90Â mg instead of 9Â mg), slow bolus (five minutes), to a 33-year-old woman who suffered from Hodgkinâs Lymphoma. The effects of a single dose of ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation (0.4 J/cm2) on immunological functions by blood leukocytes and on hematological parameters was studied in roach (Rutilus rutilus), a teleostean fish. The respiratory burst of phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate stimulated whole blood phagocytes increased significantly after UVB irradiation but spontaneous cytotoxicity of blood leukocytes toward 51chromium-labeled K562 target cells was not markedly altered. Four groups of guinea pigs received different doses of cis-platinum. SEM and TEM showed a direct relation between the dose and the damage. The first row of OHC is the first one to be damaged. The IHC are more resistant than the OHC. The pattern of destruction is similar to the one produced by the aminoglucoside antibiotics.

Abstract Aims In breast cancer (BC) patients treated with anthracyclines-based therapies, we aim at assessing whether adjuvant drugs impact cardiac function differently and whether their cardiotoxicity has a regional pattern.
